Job description

Electrical Design Engineer – Power Distribution Location: Marietta, OH Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire Compensation: Starting at $80,000 annually, with higher compensation available based on experience Position Overview We are seeking a motivated Electrical Design Engineer to support the development, enhancement, and ongoing support of power distribution and power protection equipment. This role will contribute to product design, technical documentation, testing, troubleshooting, and certification activities while working closely with engineering and manufacturing teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles and an interest in designing products that support critical power distribution applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical designs for power distribution products, including component selection and system integration
  • Assist with thermal design, mechanical packaging concepts, and interconnection hardware selection
  • Apply knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, magnetics, and thermal management
  • Create engineering specifications for power protection and distribution systems
  • Design power and control circuits for switchboards and related equipment
  • Develop and maintain bills of materials, schematics, and engineering documentation
  • Support the integration and qualification of third-party components within electrical systems
  • Participate in hardware design reviews to improve product performance and reliability
  • Prepare technical documentation, manufacturing instructions, and test procedures
  • Provide engineering support for both new and existing product lines
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting of electrical systems and subsystems
  • Assist with product safety certifications and compliance activities involving UL, CSA, IEC, and related standards

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar CAD drafting software
  • Knowledge of power distribution equipment such as Power Distribution Units (PDU), Static Transfer Switches (STS), Remote Power Panels (RPP), or switchboards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using electrical engineering test equipment such as oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and signal generators
  • Knowledge of three-phase electrical systems and power distribution
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and documentation skills
  • Excellent laboratory and troubleshooting abilities
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills
