Position Summary
As a Senior Data Engineer on the Data Product Integrations team, you will serve as Assent’s technical control layer across our partner-led integration ecosystem. This is a systems-level role focused on data modeling, integration standards and pipeline development, and partner oversight. You will ensure that data flowing into our platform from external partners is consistent, reliable, and observable, and that Assent’s data standards are enforced across all integrations. You will coordinate closely with third-party partners, internal DevOps and Infrastructure teams, and the broader Data Engineering & Operations organization, with direct impact on customer onboarding speed, data quality outcomes, and the scalability of our integration ecosystem.
Key Requirements & Responsibilities
Define and maintain canonical data models, contracts, and schema standards to ensure consistency across partner-built integrations with Assent
Review and validate integration designs and data mappings from third-party partners, providing technical guidance on ETL/ELT patterns, transformations, and validation logic
Design and implement data validation frameworks and observability tooling, including: logging, lineage tracking, alerting, and ingestion failure dashboards
Develop key integration quality metrics, and comprehensive triage framework for integration issues across full ingestion path; serve as internal escalation point for Assent’s DPI team
Champion best practices on coding and documentation standards within the Data Product Integrations team in alignment with broader Data Organization standards
Partner with DevOps, Infrastructure, Data Engineering, and Product teams to support scalable ingestion patterns and contribute to a standardized, reusable integration framework
Align and apply data governance standards for the integration domain based on internal Data Governance team organizational requirements
Be familiar with corporate security policies and follow the guidance set out by processes and procedures of Assent
Your Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
We strongly value your talent, energy and passion. It will also be valuable to Assent if you have the following qualifications:
Degree in a related field and 5+ years of data engineering experience, with demonstrated ability to operate independently in complex, cross-functional environments
Strong experience in data modeling, schema design, and data contract development; deep understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data transformations
Proven experience working with external data producers (partners, vendors, customers) and validating their data mappings and schemas
Proficiency in Python (preferred) and SQL (required); strong knowledge of JSON, CSV, and XML (XML strongly preferred); experience with REST APIs and data ingestion patterns
Familiarity with GitHub for version control and PR reviews; working knowledge of AWS (preferred); experience with Snowflake and dbt is an asset
Experience with data observability practices: logging, lineage tracking, pipeline monitoring, and alerting. Exposure to tools such as Airflow, Great Expectations, or similar frameworks is a plus
Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including external partners
Strong analytical skills, business acumen, and familiarity with agile environments and scrum ceremonies
