Job Description:
Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated System Validation Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Brisbane, Australia.
Key accountabilities:
Ensure the Testing & Laboratory Integration activities are well performed and contribute to achieve the System Validation objectives while increasing competitiveness in bids and efficiency in projects.
Guarantee the appropriate level of independence in the definition and implementation of the Testing & Laboratory Integration activities, in compliance with applicable standards and SILs.
Ensure the proper supervision of the Company testing environments, to guarantee their homogeneity (by technological clusters), and to improve them (as needed) with the state of the art.
Ensure the optimisation of configuration for testing environment of the laboratories in all the geographies
Ensure review of the System V&V Plan.
Ensure review and approval of Testing & Laboratory Integration deliverables (including System Validation Test Procedures), needed at project level.
Ensure the review of cost evaluation, planning, constraints and risks of Testing & Laboratory Integration activities for all required bids.
Ensure to collect all the requirements, in terms of materials for the host and target environment, from the System Validation and Regional System & Signalling Integration teams, to manage laboratory activities, maximizing return from experience and minimizing costs and time.
Ensure the right installation of hosts and targets environment according to System Validation and Regional System & Signalling Integration needs and providing the necessary support and feedback to them.
Ensure the requirements and expected features for the testing environments/tools, needed to execute the System Validation activities, are met.
Ensure the continuous effective development of competencies, skills and knowledge of the assigned resources in alignment with the Company strategy and the Company competence management system.
Ensure the definition and implementation of development plans in alignment with Company strategy and workload/staffing needs by means of development actions like training on the job, mentorship, job shadowing, etc.
Ensure the effective staffing of the assigned resources (in terms of competencies and suitable skills & knowledge) in alignment with Company competence strategy and guidelines.
Ensure the effective periodic workload planning and management, ensuring that the right number and skill mix of resources are available to meet Company needs
Key knowledge and experience:
Master’s degree in Electric/Electronic/SW Engineering.
2-3 years of System Validation or Testing & Laboratory Integration Experience on ETCS systems (preferred, not mandatory).
Background in Electrical Engineering; able to read and understand schematics, books of plans, and other mechanical drawings, or
Background in SW development and testing, particularly in IEE1483 and EN 50128 standards, or
Background in standard signalling disciplines and concepts (Interlocking Operation, ATP Operation, ATS Operation)
Capability to integrate and maintain, in laboratory, different equipment and sub systems (sub system integration and system integration), to build the required testing environment. Knowledge about the Test Processes. Ability to define and execute the test procedures to validate the system requirements and interfaces. Experience and knowledge in the operational rules of a rail and metro network.
Capability to ensure the definition of the correct strategy in terms of compliance of specifications to requirements (Verification), and in terms of test planning and methodologies (Validation). Capability to ensure the coverage of all the functional and safety critical aspects, in terms of management of requirements, tests definition, execution and analysis at application level.
Excellent communication skills
Proficient knowledge in DOORS, Microsoft Office Products; limited knowledge of National Instruments LabVIEW
Knowledge of computer virtualization
Working knowledge of safety analysis and RAM analysis
