Role Overview
We are looking for a General Manager to manage the Japan office of a fast-scaling, technology-led business operating across telecoms, digital platforms and SaaS-enabled services.
Expanding from Singapore to its international markets across Australia, Taiwan, Indonesia and now Japan, we are seeking a passionate, driven and results-oriented individual who can significantly contribute towards managing key relationships with client partner and senior stakeholders, creating buy-in across the partner organization, and cultivating broader/ deeper relationships that in turn lead to additional opportunities.
This is a critical role reporting to the Leadership Team, and the successful candidate will be handling all country-related activities from managing the P&L, team, and daily operations, but more importantly act on behalf of the Client when interacting with with our telco partner.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop an overall key account management plan in line with the broader organisational strategy, ensuring buy-in from all stakeholders, and assisting/ supporting key stakeholders across all levels with the journey of adopting to our product
- Set up scalable infrastructure and tools to monitor execution and ensure consistency with the business’ short and long-range strategic objectives
- Strengthen relationships with key partners (Telecom operators as well as Regulators) to enable growth and continued smooth operations in-country
- Build a high-performing, passionate and tight-knit team; Set challenging goals and actively coach/ provide regular feedback to help them reach their full potential
- Work closely with the founders and the leadership team in Singapore to foster and maintain harmonious relationships; ensure business alignment and effective resource management to deliver a competitive advantage
Our Ideal Candidate
- Has at least 8 years of General Management experience at a Country level with operational experience in Japan at the C/ C-1 level
- Has at least 10 years of experience within the consumer brand industry (ideally SaaS/ Internet/ Technology/ Telecommunications (or-related) and familiar with the regulatory and competitive environment in the Japan market
- Ideally with experience of ensuring service levels above and beyond the expectation of a key B2B relationship
- Has proven track record of building and scaling a business (ideally from scratch to 100M revenue) ideally within a B2C digital start-up or a high-growth type environment, leading teams of 30+ people
- Well-versed in P&L management, sales and marketing, or business development.
- Has strong digital mindset and passionate about disrupting the future with an entrepreneurial spirit, and the grit, resilience and resourcefulness to overcome obstacles
- Able to work and communicate effectively across Japanese and multinational companies.
