Purpose of the Position / Whakarāpopototanga The Ramp Services Trainer is responsible for delivering engaging, practical and compliant training to new and existing Ramp Services employees. This role is a key part of developing capable frontline teams who can safely and efficiently support aircraft turnaround operations. You will use your operational ramp experience to coach employees across relevant ramp activities, equipment, procedures and client requirements. The primary focus of the role is to deliver high-quality theory and practical training that aligns with Swissport-approved operating procedures, safety requirements, client standards and airport regulations. You will play an important role in ensuring our people have the knowledge, capability and confidence to deliver safe, efficient and reliable ramp operations for our airline customers. Key Responsibilities / Ngā momo ngohe Create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment where employees can build confidence and capability. Deliver theory, practical and on-the-job training to new and existing Ramp Services employees. Facilitate competency-based assessments, practical observations, buddy shifts and refresher training. Train and assess employees across relevant ramp activities, subject to your operational endorsements, qualifications and approvals. Provide practical coaching on safe aircraft turnaround procedures, baggage and cargo handling, equipment use, airside safety and operational processes. Support employees completing eLearning modules and ensure learning outcomes are understood and applied in the operational environment. Use effective adult-learning and facilitation techniques to meet different learning styles and operational needs. Ensure all training is delivered in a positive, inclusive and engaging manner that promotes teamwork, participation and continuous improvement. Complete and maintain accurate training records, assessment documentation and related administration in a timely manner. Conduct Training Administration Reviews and Trainer and Training Quality Reviews to identify opportunities to improve training quality and effectiveness. Identify opportunities to enhance the frontline training experience and foster a culture where learning, development and safe work practices are valued. Work closely with Ramp Services leaders and operational stakeholders to ensure training supports current and future operational capability requirements. Safety, Security and Compliance Ensure all training is delivered in accordance with applicable aviation, airport, client and Swissport policies, procedures and standards. Promote and reinforce safe work practices across all ramp operations, including manual handling, airside driving, equipment safety and safe aircraft turnaround activities. Ensure Human Factors principles are considered in training delivery and operational decision-making. Lead by example and demonstrate Swissport’s expected safety, security and compliance behaviours at all times. Act as a role model for a workplace culture that prioritises safety, integrity, inclusion, equality and fairness. Support a workplace with zero tolerance for bullying, discrimination, harassment or unsafe behaviours. Your Profile / Kōtaha Matawhaiaro To be successful in this role, you will bring: Demonstrated operational experience within airport Ramp Services, Ground Handling or a comparable aviation environment. Strong working knowledge of ramp operations, including aircraft turnaround activities, baggage and cargo handling, ground support equipment and airside safety requirements. Experience delivering workplace training, coaching, buddying or competency-based assessments in an operational environment. The ability to explain operational procedures clearly and provide practical, constructive feedback. Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety responsibilities and their application in a ramp environment. Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately complete and maintain training records and documentation. Effective communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility with frontline employees and operational leaders. Intermediate Microsoft Office and Google Suite skills. A proactive and hands-on approach, with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced airport environment. Demonstrated leadership capability and a commitment to leading by example. Availability to work flexible hours, including early starts, late finishes, weekends and public holidays, in line with operational requirements. Previous experience as a Ramp Trainer, Workplace Trainer, Ramp Supervisor, Leading Hand or senior Ramp Services employee will be highly regarded.
