What We Offer

This position has responsibility for managing an infection prevention program for Novant Health. Provides leadership in supporting a culture of infection prevention in identifying opportunities and initiatives to reduce and prevent infections. Coordination among leaders and operations and clinical support personnel will enhance system reliability and improve infection prevention processes and outcomes. These activities involve reporting, process evaluation, formulation of recommendations and initiatives, coordination of intervention strategies, and monitoring of activities related to infection prevention.

What You'll Do

  • Manages work activities for the team of IPs. Facilitates team development and understanding. Point person for team members and leaders for IP related activity, serves as resource expert, provides orientation for new team members, functions as role model, facilitator, mentor and coach, demonstrates leadership skills in problem solving, analytics, and relationship management, Adopts new knowledge appropriate to work.
  • Works with physicians (when applicable) to develop or improve processes around the care of their patients.
  • Provides ongoing and annual feedback to staff on performance, including performance improvement plans.
  • Manages positions within the department to achieve quality and productivity, and meet budget. Provides input into the annual operations and capital budgets. Manages the department budget (measures, monitors, and balances human and material resources).
  • Maintains organizational policy and procedure, including rules of conduct. Provides project/process consultation to staff.

What We're Looking For

  • Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required. RN, or Medical Technologist or other Healthcare related field. Graduate Degree in related field, preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum five years as Infection Preventionist, required. Minimum three years previous leadership experience, required.
  • Licensure/Certification:
  • Current RN license, required.
  • American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification or eligible for if Medical Technologist, required.
  • Certification through Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC), required.
