Job description

Salary: Up to £138.24 per night

Schedule: Live-In rota | 3 Weeks On / 3 Weeks Off (waking nights)

About the role

This is not your ordinary waking night position. We are seeking a dedicated, highly observant professional for a specialised waking night role.

To ensure the ultimate safety of our client with epilepsy and learning disabilities, your primary role will be to sit directly outside their bedroom, monitoring visual screens throughout the night. While the physical activity level of this role is low, the mental vigilance required is high and your presence is crucial for immediate response to any needs or emergencies.

If you are someone who thrives in a quiet, highly structured environment, possesses an exceptional attention to detail, and takes pride in being the ultimate safety net, this role is perfect for you.

You won’t be doing this alone, you will join an incredibly supportive, established team with a hands-on care manager and house manager, ensuring you have everything you need to succeed.

Your key responsibilities

Remain awake and alert, stationed outside the client’s room, monitoring visual screens to ensure immediate detection of any seizure activity.

Act calmly, swiftly and effectively according to established protocols during overnight incidents or epileptic seizures

Safely manage and administer required night-time medications

Provide 2 hours of essential break-cover support to the daytime care team, maintaining seamless continuity of care

Keep precise overnight records and deliver comprehensive handovers to the morning staff and care manager

What we are looking for (essential criteria)

Due to the specialised nature of this role, we can only consider applicants with proven professional experience in:

Epilepsy & seizure management: Confident, hands-on experience tracking, monitoring, and responding to epileptic seizures

Learning disabilities & autism knowledge: A deep understanding of supporting individuals with diverse learning disabilities and complex communication needs

Proven night-shift reliability: Experience maintaining high alertness during quiet, solo waking night shifts

Valid right to work in the UK

What we offer you

A fixed, reliable 3-weeks-on / 3-weeks-off rota, allowing you to plan your personal life and travel well in advance

Rewarding bonuses: get a £5 daily client happiness bonus and up to £400 for every friend you refer!

We’re invested in your growth: paid induction, care certificate, and ongoing support for level 2 & 3 diplomas in health and social care

Dedicated support: your own care manager and a friendly office team always ready to help

Prioritising your well-being: an Employee Assistance Programme with wellbeing support

Award-winning culture: join a team rated 5 stars for culture and management (Indeed) and recognised for live-in care expertise (Home Care Awards)

Benefits package including paid holidays, NEST pension scheme, client referral scheme, Blue Light Card

If you have the specific experience required and are comfortable with a dedicated screen-monitoring role, we would love to hear from you.
