The Opportunity
Team Liquid is looking for a Regional Controller to run Brazil accounting operations end-to-end. This role owns the general ledger, financial close, and day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring everything is accurate, on time, and compliant with Brazilian regulations.
This is a hands-on role in a lean environment, operating across the close, including intercompany, payroll, tax, and statutory requirements, while working closely with global finance teams and external accounting partners.
Location: São Paulo, Brazil. Candidates must be available for onsite collaboration at our São Paulo office at least three days per week.
What You’ll Be Doing
•
Own the Brazil general ledger and maintain accurate, complete financial records
•
Manage month-end, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including timelines, issue resolution, and completeness of the books
•
Prepare and review financial statements, identifying gaps or inconsistencies
•
Stay close to day-to-day accounting activities and step in as needed
•
Review AP aging and manage payment cycles
•
Oversee payroll in partnership with HR and local providers
•
Handle commissions, reimbursements, and expense activity
•
Manage inventory accounting, including journal entries and transaction flow
•
Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations
•
Perform and review bank and account reconciliations
•
Maintain compliance with Brazilian tax regulations, GAAP, and a strong controls environment
•
Coordinate statutory reporting and local government filings
•
Ensure accounting data is audit-ready and assist with local audits
•
Monitor cash flow and contribute to budgeting and forecasting
•
Work with external accounting firms and vendors as needed
•
Provide guidance across AP activities and junior team members
•
Improve accounting processes to increase efficiency and data integrity
What You’ll Need
•
5+ years of accounting experience in Brazil, including exposure to close processes
•
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
•
Active CRC registration
•
Strong knowledge of Brazilian tax regulations and compliance requirements
•
Experience managing month-end close, statutory reporting, and tax filings
•
Experience working with US GAAP or in a multinational environment
•
Experience working with external accounting firms or advisors
•
Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets
•
Ability to manage deadlines and operate with minimal oversight
•
Clear communication across local and global teams
•
Fluency in Portuguese and English
