Summary
The Community Operations & Communications Coordinator is a dynamic, community-focused position responsible for supporting operational, communications, and engagement activities for Na-Cho Nyäk Dun Development Corporation (NNDDC) and its subsidiaries. Based in Mayo, Yukon, this role serves as a key connection between NNDDC, its businesses, community members, partners, and stakeholders.
The Coordinator develops and manages digital and print communications, including social media, websites, newsletters, marketing materials, and community outreach campaigns. The position promotes NNDDC initiatives, employment opportunities, events, and community programs while ensuring communications align with organizational values and support by assisting with community events, tenant relations, property oversight, stakeholder engagement, workforce development initiatives, and the day-to-day activities of community-focused programs such as Ihdzí’. The role may also support sponsorship and scholarship programs, community engagement sessions, youth initiatives, and partnerships that advance economic and social development within the Traditional Territory.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, highly organized, self-motivated, and passionate about community development. They are comfortable creating digital content, coordinating events, building relationships, and serving as a local representative of NNDDC in Mayo. This position requires a collaborative approach, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects while contributing to NNDDC's long-term vision of creating opportunities and prosperity for the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyäk Dun Citizens and the broader community.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Community Engagement & Event Support
- Support development and implementation of NNDDC community engagement initiatives and outreach activities, including communication and promotional activities.
- Contribute to NNDDC community-based projects through coordination, planning and general support.
- Participate in NNDDC workforce development and youth engagement initiatives.
- Help connect community members with employment and training opportunities in collaboration with partners.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with Citizens, community members, partners, contractors, governments, businesses and other stakeholders to support NNDDC initiatives and community engagement.
- Develop event marketing materials, invitations, registration materials and event communications
- Provide photography, videography and communications support during events as required in Mayo, YT. .
Operations Support
Property & Capital Support- Mayo, Yukon
- Serve as the primary Mayo-based operational support resource for NNDDC, providing local assistance to staff, contractors, tenants and community partners.
- Conduct routine inspections of NNDDC-owned facilities, housing units and community assets and report maintenance, safety or operational concerns to NNDDC’s property lead.
- Track and monitor community and operational issues requiring follow-up, coordinate responses with the appropriatedepartmentsand ensure community members, partners and stakeholder receive timely updates on progress and resolution.
- Maintain property, facility, contractor and service provider contact information and support operational record keeping.
- Support administration of Mayo-based facility access, keyholder responsibilities and local operational logistics.
- Assist with implementation and monitoring of operational procedures, policies and standards.
- Support local procurement activities, including helping obtain quotes, coordinating deliveries and maintaining inventory of operational supplies in Mayo.
- Provide administrative support related to permits, licenses, inspections and regulatory requirements for Mayo properties.
- Assist with contractor scheduling, site access and communication for maintenance and project-related activities.
- Assist in maintaining operational documentation, forms, records and filing systems.
- Support emergency preparedness activities and act as a local point of contact during operational incidents when required.
- Provide interim supervision or coordination support for community team activities when required.

Strategic Initiatives Support
- Support implementation of NNDDC strategic initiatives, economic development projects, community investments and special projects occurring within Mayo and the Traditional Territory.
- Track project milestones, action items and community commitments and provide updates to project leads.
- Assist with logistics for community meetings, open houses, engagement sessions and project events.
- Assist with gathering information and preparing reports related to project activities, community engagement and operational outcomes.
- Support organizational projects and initiatives through administrative, logistical and coordination activities as required.
- Support implementation of community-driven initiatives (e.g., skills registries, entrepreneurship activities).
- Other reasonable duties as required
Ihdzi’ Operations
- Support event preparation, visitor engagement and operational readiness activities associated with Ihdzi’ and other NNDDC community facilities.
- Assist tracking facility usage and provide feedback to support planning, communications and community access initiatives.
- Support promotion, logistics, communications and participant engagement activities associated with community programming, workshops, cultural activities and special events.
- Assist with development and implementation of facility procedures, operational standards and user guidelines.
- Provide temporary administrative, logistical and/or coordination support for community initiatives and activities as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned that are consistent with the scope, level and intent of the positions.
Communications & Content Development
External Communications
- Develop and maintain a social media content calendar aligned with organizational priorities, projects, events and business activities
- Create, schedule, publish and monitor content across NNDDC and subsidiary social media and web platforms, ensuring content remains accurate, current, and accessible.
- Maintain communication records, photo libraries, media assets and contact databases.
- Develop engaging written, graphic, photographic and video content that promotes NNDDC initiatives, businesses, employment opportunities and community impact.
- Monitor social media activity and respond to inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Promote community input, dialogue, and engagement through interactive campaigns and content.
- Assist in maintaining consistency of organizational branding, messaging, visual identity and communication standards across all communication channels and materials.
- Escalate sensitive communications, media inquiries, reputational issues or community concerns to direct supervisor.
- Support development and distribution of newsletters, annual reports, project summaries and corporate publications
- Assist in collecting and organizing content for NNDDC publications and public reporting.

Internal Communications
- Develop and distribute and support internal communications and initiatives that keep employees informed of priorities, initiatives, projects, events and operational updates.
- Maintain internal communication channels, calendars, contact lists and information repositories to support effective information sharing.
- Assist leadership with internal announcements, notices, presentations, briefing materials and updates.
- Monitor communication effectiveness, opportunities for improvement, employee awareness, engagement and participation.
- Assist departments and subsidiaries with communications planning and messaging.
- Assist in the development and documentation of policies, procedures and organizational resources by preparing, formatting and communicating approved materials.

Storytelling & Community Impact
- Identify and document stories that showcase community success, partnerships, Citizen achievements and organizational impact.
- Coordinate information gathering for communications products, campaigns, newsletters, reports and promotional materials.
- Develop articles, blogs, success stories and community updates.
- Track and report on communication metrics including website traffic, social media engagement, campaign performance and audience reach.

Qualifications
Required Technical Skills
- Experience managing social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn
- Experience creating digital content and marketing materials
- Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications.
- Experience using graphic design platforms such as Canva.
- Experience coordinating events, campaigns or community engagement activities.
Preferred Technical Skills
- Website content management experience (WordPress or similar platforms)
- Photography and videography experience.
- Newsletter development and email marketing experience.
- Experience with analytics and reporting tools
- Project coordination experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Community Development, Business Administration or a related field.
- Experience working with Indigenous governments, organizations, development corporations, or community-based organizations.
- Experience working in Northern, rural or remote communities.
- Knowledge of Yukon First Nation governance, economic development and community priorities.
- Knowledge of the Mayo community, the Traditional Territory of the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyäk Dun and local community networks is considered a strong asset.
- Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and effectively within Indigenous-led organizations and culturally diverse environments.
- Understanding of community engagement principles and practices.
