nitex
Fashion Designer
Salary
Job description
We are a design-forward fashion supply chain company out to reimagine how fashion brands buy product. We already design and make for some of the largest brands in fashion, from Inditex in Spain to Next in the UK. We are looking for a fashion designer who can turn a trend into a production-ready, reorder-winning collection at startup speed. This role rewards taste, drive, and ownership, not a polished CV. If you live to make and want your work in stores fast, read on. If you want a calm studio and a nine-to-five, this is not your role.
READ THIS BEFORE YOU APPLY
We hire for the work and the wiring, not the CV. We look for a designer who can already ship production-ready product, usually a few years in, and an exceptional junior who has done it is just as welcome. A strong portfolio is the start, not the finish. Send a portfolio link with your application. The rest of this page tells you exactly who we want.
01 THE ROLE
Design product that sells. Concept to production, at startup speed. You make what wins the reorder.
Nitex is a design-forward fashion supply chain platform. We give brands fresh designs, no minimum order quantity, fast and compliant manufacturing, and real-time visibility into production. We design and make for major brands including Inditex and Next. We are growing fast, and this seat is for a designer who can keep that pace, excel, and deliver.
You work across more than one product category, which most designers never do. We expect you to learn fast and handle several, from jersey and wovens to dresses, taking each from concept to a made sample: trend and fabric research, ranges, tech packs, and the back-and-forth until the sample is right. Our Dhaka team makes your samples, and you work hand in hand with them, product development, the sample section, pattern makers, 3D technicians, garment tech, and material sourcing, to get each design made. Every design has to hit cost, feasibility, and lead-time targets. The styles you make are what brands pick at our Design Lab and what wins the reorder.
A - What you will actually do
- Design across more than one product category, and grow into new ones, from concept to production-ready.
- Research seasonal trends, fabrics, and techniques for the UK and European market.
- Translate client briefs into compelling, commercial, production-ready designs.
- Build tech packs and drive each design through our Dhaka product development and sample teams on fit, fabric, and cost.
- Design to cost, feasibility, and lead-time targets, and move fast.
- Work day to day in our internal platform, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop; AI tools like Nano Banana and Midjourney are a plus.
B - Why this role is hard, and why that is the point
Design here is not a mood board. It is taste, production reality, and startup speed at once. Your work has to be beautiful, sell, cost right, and ship on time. Brands see it at our Design Lab and pick on the spot, so the bar is commercial, not only creative. Our team turns a concept into a sample in days, not months. We want a designer who is energised by that pace, not crushed by it.
WHAT WE MAKE
Fresh designs all the time, no minimum order, samples in days. What you draw this week, a brand can touch and order the next.
02 WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We hire for the work and the wiring first. We look for a mid-level hand, and an exceptional junior who already ships is just as welcome.
A - The mindset, non-negotiable
- Steady under pressure. Tight timelines, fast revisions, constant back-and-forth with the Dhaka team to get a sample right. You get sharper when it speeds up, not slower. This is the trait we screen hardest for.
- Hungry, and young at heart. You want to make a lot, learn fast, and see your work in stores. Many of our best come from sport, side projects, or building their own label.
- A maker who ships. You finish. You take a concept all the way to a production-ready, on-cost design, not a beautiful idea that never leaves the sketchbook.
- Commercial taste. You design what sells, to a price and a customer, not only what wins applause. Beautiful and buyable.
- Ownership, end to end. Every product carries the designer's name. You own the fit, the cost, the timeline, and the reorder, and when something is stuck in materials, sampling, or development, you unstick it rather than hand it off and wait.
- Humble and coachable. You take hard feedback on your work and get better fast.
B - The kind of background that fits
The label on your CV matters far less than what you have made. Most who fit have a few years shipping real product, and a young designer who has already done it is just as welcome. What they share is a body of work taken from idea to something real and commercial. If your story looks like one of these, send your portfolio.
- You designed collections end to end, including the production side, at a brand, supplier, or studio.
- You ran your own label or projects and had to design, cost, and sell it yourself.
- You came out of a strong design programme and have already shipped real product, not just coursework.
- You work fluently with tech packs and a development or sample team, and know what it takes to make a design real.
DO NOT APPLY IF
× You need a calm studio and plenty of time. Here the timelines are tight and the revisions are fast.
× You design for the applause, not for the customer who buys it. We make commercial product.
× You lose interest after the sketch and hand off the fit, cost, and production. We finish what we start.
× You take feedback on your work personally instead of using it to get better.
× You want a nine-to-five. We move fast, the bar is high, and the work does not wait.
× You believe great design cannot be fast. We prove the opposite every week.
03 SUCCESS, REWARD, AND HOW TO APPLY
What good looks like, how you are paid, and what to send.
A - What success looks like
First 30 days
You know our products, customers, and seasonal direction, and your first designs, aligned to brand DNA, are already in development.
By month 3
You take a brief to a production-ready tech pack on your own, your samples progress with little rework, and you work smoothly with our Dhaka product development, sample, and material sourcing teams.
By month 5
You deliver commercially viable collections that win buyer orders, own your sampling end to end, and run your own brands with little manager oversight.
B - How you are paid
A base matched to what you already earn, so you never take a cut to join us. As you prove yourself, your pay grows and you earn ownership in what you build through stock. We pay for the work and we promote on it. No clock-watching, and no ceiling on a designer who ships.
C - How to apply
Do not send a CV alone. Send a link to your portfolio and short, specific answers to the four questions below. We look at the work and the answers first. A portfolio is required.
A NOTE ON HOW WE HIRE
Our process looks at the work, then the craft, then the mindset. We would rather hire a hungry designer with a coachable gap than a polished CV with a settled, slow mindset. Send a portfolio link with your application.
