Job description
Reporting to the Senior Director, Finance, the Director – Financial Reporting and Optimization acts as a key strategic partner within Air Transat’s finance function.
A true change agent and mobilizing leader, the incumbent drives the evolution and continuous improvement of financial processes to support the organization’s growth and performance.
As a trusted business partner, they work closely with multidisciplinary teams, as well as financial and operational leaders, to transform financial data into high-value insights that support decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, guidance, and development to a team of financial analysts, fostering a collaborative, rigorous, and high-performance environment
- Ensure the proper execution of accounting activities and maintain strong internal controls related to Air Transat’s airline costs and balance sheet
- Coordinate and review accounting provisions related to aircraft leases and aeronautical components in compliance with IFRS 16
- Oversee the consolidation of the Company’s financial results, for both statutory and management reporting purposes, and ensure data accuracy and reliability
- Lead the budgeting process, financial planning, and in-depth analysis of areas under their responsibility (maintenance, capital expenditures, IFRS 16)
- Oversee the preparation and review of Air Transat’s statutory financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Ensure the ongoing application of IFRS standards for complex transactions, particularly related to maintenance, and lead the implementation of new accounting standards
- Play a key role in implementing innovative solutions and continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function
- Build and maintain strong business relationships with leaders and act as a trusted strategic advisor
- Lead special finance-related projects and actively contribute to strategic decision-making
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation – required
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in personnel management within a financial environment
- Experience in a large organization; experience in the aviation industry is considered a strong asset
- In-depth knowledge of IFRS standards and their practical application
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite tools
- Proven leadership and strong ability to influence diverse stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in change management and organizational transformation
- Strong ability to analyze complex situations and make sound decisions quickly
- Oral and written fluency in French and English *
*A good knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec. The incumbent will be required to communicate and collaborate frequently in English, both orally and in writing, with colleagues, customers, and other stakeholders in Quebec, the rest of Canada, and internationally.
