The LSU Agricultural Center is a statewide organization with offices in every parish of Louisiana. We are currently seeking extraordinary candidates for a Human Resources Manager – Talent & Operations. This position will be domiciled in Efferson Hall, Baton Rouge, LA.
About the LSU Agricultural Center: The LSU AgCenter focuses on research, extension and teaching to make advancements that will benefit generations. The LSU AgCenter is one of 5 institutions that comprise the flagship campus of the LSU System and one of 8 campuses in the state. The LSU AgCenter includes the Louisiana Agricultural Experiment Station, which conducts agricultural-based research, and the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service, which extends the knowledge derived from research to the people of the state. The AgCenter is headquartered in Baton Rouge and has 12 academic departments and five regions which are made up of 15 branch research stations and an extension office in each parish. Position Description: The HR Manager – Talent & Operations leads talent acquisition and assists with the administration of key compliance programs for the LSU AgCenter, including recruitment, ADA accommodations, and Title IX coordination. This position partners with leadership to attract and retain a highly qualified workforce while ensuring compliance with federal and state employment laws, LSU policies, and AgCenter procedures. The role provides strategic guidance, promotes equitable hiring practices, and supports organizational effectiveness through consultation, training, and policy implementation. This position reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for HRM. Specific duties are as follows:
- TALENT ACQUISITION & RECRUITMENT
Leads and manages the full-cycle recruitment process for unclassified and academic positions. Serves as the primary HR contact for hiring managers, providing guidance on recruitment strategies, candidate evaluation, and selection processes. Ensures compliance with equal employment opportunity (EEO) requirements and institutional hiring policies. Advises on complex hiring matters including immigration, exceptions, and policy interpretation. Partners with leadership to enhance recruitment practices and support workforce planning initiatives
- ADA & TITLE IX COMPLIANCE
Serves as ADA Coordinator, administering the interactive process for employee accommodation requests in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Maintains documentation and ensures timely, consistent handling of accommodation requests. Provides training and guidance to supervisors and employees regarding ADA requirements and responsibilities. Serves as Co-Title IX Coordinator, supporting compliance with Title IX and LSU PM-73. Coordinates with campus partners to ensure appropriate response, reporting, and awareness of Title IX obligations. Serves as Confidential Advisor for Pennington Biomedical Research Center, as needed.
- LEAVE & WORKERS COMP SUPPORT
Provides backup support for FMLA and Workers’ Compensation programs.
Assists in ensuring compliance with applicable laws, policies, and reporting requirements.
Collaborates with HR team members to maintain continuity of services and consistent application of policies
- HR OPERATIONS, TRAINING, & STRATEGIC SUPPORT
Oversees employment law postings and administration of programs such as the Crisis Leave Pool. Provides consultation to leadership and employees on HR policies, procedures, and best practices. Develops and delivers training on HR-related topics, including compliance and talent practices. Participates in policy development, review, and strategic HR initiatives.
Performs other duties as assigned in support of HR operations. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration or related field and 5+ years of progressively responsible HR experience. Demonstrated experience advising leadership on employment practices and compliance. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization. Ability to interpret and apply complex policies, laws, and regulations. Advanced degree, higher education experience, and Workday experience preferred.
