Business Development & Strategic Growth Manager Department: Business Development & Strategy Reports To: Group Managing Director (GMD) Supervises Business Development Officers Strategic Partnerships Officers Market Research & Intelligence Analysts Proposal Development Officers Commercial Development Executives Grade: Senior Management Location: Abuja Job Summary The Business Development & Strategic Growth Manager is responsible for driving sustainable growth, diversification, market expansion, strategic partnerships, investment development, and revenue generation across all subsidiaries and business units of the Group. The role serves as the commercial growth engine of the Group and is responsible for identifying, evaluating, negotiating, developing, and executing new business opportunities in sectors including Real Estate Development, Local and International Trade, Agro-processing, Manufacturing, Export Development, and Strategic Investments. The position requires a commercially astute and entrepreneurial professional capable of transforming ideas into profitable ventures, building strategic relationships, securing investment opportunities, developing new markets, and supporting the Abans long-term growth ambitions. The role acts as a strategic advisor on growth opportunities, investment decisions, acquisitions, partnerships, and expansion initiatives. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Corporate Growth Strategy & Expansion Responsibilities Develop and execute the Abans’s business development and growth strategy. Identify new business opportunities aligned with the Abans's strategic objectives. Conduct market assessments to identify emerging sectors and industries. Recommend diversification opportunities across existing and new sectors. Identify expansion opportunities throughout the Abans’s operating regions Support in evaluating strategic investments and acquisitions. Develop annual and multi-year growth roadmaps for the Group. New Business Development & Venture Creation Responsibilities Lead the identification and development of new businesses and subsidiaries. Evaluate commercial opportunities through market research and feasibility assessments. Develop business models and commercialization strategies. Structure and negotiate strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and alliances. Develop new revenue streams for the Group. Drive business incubation and venture development initiatives. International Business Development & Export Expansion Responsibilities Develop international markets for the Group's products and services. Identify and engage international buyers, distributors, importers, and strategic partners. Lead participation in trade missions, trade fairs, exhibitions, and business forums. Develop export market entry strategies. Establish strategic relationships with export promotion agencies and trade organizations. Negotiate export contracts and strategic supply agreements. Support product development for export markets. Strategic Partnerships & Investor Relations Responsibilities Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships. Develop relationships with investors, development finance institutions, banks, sovereign funds, private equity firms, and government agencies. Facilitate fundraising and capital raising initiatives. Prepare investor presentations and investment memoranda. Lead partnership negotiations and relationship management. Coordinate stakeholder engagement initiatives. Investment Analysis & Project Development Responsibilities Conduct feasibility studies and investment appraisals. Develop business cases and financial models. Perform market and technical due diligence. Conduct risk assessments and sensitivity analyses. Prepare investment recommendations for management and the Board. Real Estate Development & Property Investments Responsibilities Identify real estate investment opportunities. Source land acquisition opportunities. Evaluate residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use developments. Negotiate land acquisitions and development partnerships. Coordinate project concept development. Support financing and commercialization activities. Deliverables Land Bank Register Property Investment Pipeline Development Feasibility Reports Joint Venture Agreements 7. Manufacturing & Industrial Development Responsibilities Identify manufacturing investment opportunities. Source technology partners and equipment suppliers. Develop manufacturing business cases. Evaluate production technologies and market opportunities. Support industrial project implementation. Market Intelligence & Competitive Analysis Responsibilities Monitor market trends and industry developments. Conduct competitor analysis and benchmarking. Track economic and regulatory developments. Revenue Growth & Commercial Development Responsibilities Support revenue generation initiatives across the Group. Develop strategic customer acquisition plans. Identify major commercial opportunities. Build and maintain relationships with key customers. Support contract negotiations and deal closures. Strategic Project Management Responsibilities Lead strategic projects from concept to implementation. Coordinate cross-functional project teams. Track project milestones and deliverables. Report project status to the GMD. Ensure timely completion of approved initiatives. Deliverables Project Plans Project Status Reports Implementation Dashboards Requirements QUALIFICATIONS Education Mandatory: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Engineering, International Business, Marketing, Management, Agriculture, Real Estate, or related discipline. Preferred: MBA Master's Degree in Finance, Economics, Strategy, International Trade, or Project Management. PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS Preferred: PMP PRINCE2 CIPS CFA ACCA ICAN CIM Chartered Marketer Certified Business Development Professional EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Minimum 5–10 years relevant experience. At least 5 years in a senior business development role. Demonstrated success in developing and executing growth initiatives. Experience in diversified business groups is highly desirable.
