Job description

Automotive Technician Purpose: Ensure all vehicles are brought up to “ready to rent” status by performing inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs.

Key Duties & Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Perform maintenance and repair responsibilities according to company standards. Conduct Vehicle Inspection including:

  • Ensure the absence of frayed or loose wires or fluid leakage.
  • Engine parts to include: All Hoses and Belts, Clamps.
  • Fluid Levels to include: Oil, Coolant, Windshield Washer Fluid, Brake Fluid, Power Steering.
  • Tires and Wheels.
  • Tire pressure.
  • Ensure no tire damage at tread and sidewall surfaces or irregular tread wear.
  • Rims, wheel covers, and wheel trim are undamaged and matching.
  • Check the shock absorbers and suspension for wear and leakage or damage.
  • All lights
  • Front and Rear Lights.
  • Ensure all are in good working order and have no humidity or water collected in same.
  • Ensure that lights are free of damage or cracks.
  • Interior Parts and Operation.
  • Check steering and front-end system.
  • Check the Braking System.
  • Check the Windshield wipers, horn, windows, seat belts, radio and other switches.
  • Check air and heat and all vents operating.
  • Check for loose or missing accessories, tools and safety equipment.
  • Exterior
  • Inspect vehicles for unidentified body damage: Dents, Scrapes, Loose Parts.
  • License plates.
  • Determine whether vehicles should be placed on out-of-service hold.
  • Ensure that the key tags are properly marked with the correct VIN or unit number and license plate number.
  • Conduct quality check vehicle for mechanical quality where required through road test.
  • Repair vehicle and Preventative maintenance (based on authorized repair level allowed).
  • Refuel vehicles and log the identification numbers with fuel and mileage.
  • Perform required repairs or preventative maintenance based on company standards.
  • Rotate tires at regular intervals as needed.
  • Maintain service bays and tools in safe, clean, and usable condition.
  • Wear appropriate uniform and personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and report any unsafe conditions.
  • Attend and complete all required training & development courses and workshops.
  • Any other task designated by the supervisor, manager, or anyone acting on their behalf. Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 - 3 years’ experience handling mechanical service procedures and/or certification in automotive mechanics (HEART NTA Level 3 or equivalent).
  • Valid Jamaican General Driver’s license up 2500-3000 CC (over 2 years old).
  • Demonstrates self-confidence with the ability to take initiative.
  • Safe driving record.
  • Ability and willingness to work on weekends, public holidays, and a 6-day work week.
