Job Purpose The IBM Cloud Infrastructure L2 Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day administration, operations, troubleshooting, incident management, and support of the IBM Cloud Classic Infrastructure environment. The role requires hands-on experience supporting enterprise-scale IBM Cloud environments comprising Bare Metal Servers, Virtual Servers, networking, storage, security, connectivity, and cloud services. The engineer acts as the Level-2 escalation point for infrastructure-related incidents, service requests, problem management, and operational improvements. Job Description

  • Provide L2 operational support for IBM Cloud Infrastructure and IBM Cloud Classic Infrastructure.
  • Manage and support Bare Metal Servers and Virtual Server Instances (VSI).
  • Perform incident troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem management.
  • Support infrastructure provisioning, decommissioning, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
  • Manage IBM Cloud networking components including VLANs, Subnets, Load Balancers, VPN Gateways, Firewalls, Security Groups, and Routing.
  • Support storage services including Block Storage, File Storage, backups, snapshots, and disaster recovery requirements.
  • Monitor infrastructure health, performance, capacity, and availability.
  • Perform OS-level troubleshooting and coordinate with application and vendor teams.
  • Support patching, maintenance activities, vulnerability remediation, and security compliance initiatives.
  • Manage access controls, IAM policies, and infrastructure governance requirements.
  • Support DR drills, failover activities, and business continuity testing.
  • Work closely with L1, L3, network, security, application, and vendor teams.
  • Maintain operational documentation, SOPs, knowledge articles, and architecture diagrams.
  • Participate in on-call support and critical incident management.

Knowledge & Experience Qualifications skills

  • Experience: 5–7 years in enterprise infrastructure / cloud operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • IBM Cloud certifications, networking certifications, or cloud certifications will be an added advantage.

Required Skills

  • Strong experience with IBM Cloud Classic Infrastructure.
  • Hands-on administration of Bare Metal and Virtual Server environments.
  • Experience managing VPN Gateways, VLANs, Subnets, Routing, Firewalls, and Load Balancers.
  • Good understanding of enterprise networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VPN, Routing).
  • Experience with storage administration, backups, snapshots, and disaster recovery.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure monitoring and alerting tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across compute, network, storage, and cloud services.
  • Experience supporting Linux and Windows server environments.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and vulnerability remediation.
  • Exposure to automation and scripting using Shell, PowerShell, Python, or similar technologies.

Good to have skills

  • Exposure to Azure and/or OCI cloud platforms.
  • Experience working in enterprise retail or large-scale environments.
  • Understanding of ITIL processes including Incident, Change, Problem, and Service Request Management.
  • Knowledge of hybrid cloud environments and connectivity solutions.

What Success Looks like?

  • IBM Cloud Classic Infrastructure remains stable, secure, and available, with incidents resolved within agreed SLAs.
  • Incidents, service requests, and problems are managed effectively at L2, with timely escalation to L3 and vendors where required.
  • Patching, vulnerability remediation, and security compliance activities are completed on schedule.
  • DR drills, failover tests, and business continuity activities are executed successfully.
  • Operational documentation, SOPs, knowledge articles, and architecture diagrams are kept accurate and up to date.
