Job description

We're currently seeking a committed and motivated individual with demonstrated experience in finance and administration to work on various files with us, including accounting, payments and reporting duties , and support the financial coordination of the Funding Fairer Futures project, specifically the sub-granting process that is on the agenda. The individual will contribute to the work of the Finance team as a Finance Officer under the supervision the Senior Finance Coordinator. The position is 80% or full time and will be based in Brussels on a hybrid basis.

MAIN DUTIES

  • Encode the expenses with analytical information in the purchase book of the accounting software
  • Revise staff cost claims and prepare payments upon instructions of the Senior Finance Coordinator
  • Import CODA bank statements in the accounting software, and reconcile all transactions with purchase and sales books
  • Prepare the encoding of Belgian salaries and import the data in the accounting software
  • Revise Partners' expenses when relevant and support the Head of Operations/Senior Finance Coordinator in dealing with financial support to partners
  • Follow-up the membership fees and liaise with the Fundraising Coordinator
  • Assist the Head of Operations/ Senior Finance Coordinator with audit, financial reports, justifications and financial management Human resources
  • Inform the HR coordinators on a monthly basis about expenses claimed by Belgian staff members
  • Cross-check of the monthly Belgian payroll when encoding the salaries Financial Support to the Funding Fairer Futures project ¿ Support the FFF Admin & Finance Coordinator with the coordination of partners' financial responsibilities for compliance with EU and project requirements, incl. through the bi-monthly finance working group and financial support working group
  • Support the coordination of the Funding Fairer Futures sub-granting processes, including implementation of subgranting to CSOs/groups through the Climate Action Engagement Fund (dissemination of the final call for projects, selection, disbursement of funds).
  • Support the monitoring of the subgrantee project delivery and budget spending in compliance with EU requirement, specifically liaising with the Project Manager and Project Officer to verify the alignment of the subgrantee result & financial reporting Required skills and experiences :
  • University degree or equivalent qualification in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in accounting, grant management, or administration.
  • Experience with accounting software and bookkeeping processes.
  • Excellent level of written and spoken English.
  • Excellent organizing skills and ability to work autonomously.
  • High level of motivation and the ability to execute complex tasks within deadlines.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders, to update and deepen knowledge, and to integrate new practices
  • Demonstrated alignment with the mission, the modes of action, and the values of CAN Europe.
  • Experience in an NGO, non-profit, international organisation, or EU-funded project environment is highly desirable.
  • Experience in financial monitoring of partners, sub-grants, or donor-funded projects is an asset. What we offer :
