Position: Laundry Attendant

Reports To: Laundry Supervisor

Purpose of the Position

Responsible for the quality of the hotel linen supply by ensuring cleanliness and maintaining high standards at all times.

• Washes and dries all food and beverage linen.
• Washes and dries all guest room linen.
• Sorts all linen properly according to type and soils.
• Processes stained linen according to established standards.
• Presses and folds all linen neatly and according to guidelines.
• Reports all damages, hazards or defective equipment to supervisor.
• Stocks linen for distribution.
• Keeps up the laundry room at all times, ensuring cleanliness and maintenance.
• Operates ironer.
• Logs the number of loads for washer and dryer.
• Adheres to all policies and procedures.
• Knows department fire prevention and emergency procedures.
• Utilizes protective equipment.
• Reports substandard (unsafe) conditions to supervisor.
• Reports accidents, injuries, near-misses, property damage or loss to supervisor.
• Provides for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules.

Non-Essential Responsibilities

• Attends company orientation.
• Is expected to perform any related duty as requested by his/her manager.
• Assist other laundry personnel when needed.

• Talk to different kinds of people to give information, answer questions and provide required services.
• Stand or walk for varying lengths of time, often long periods.
• Lift and carry heavy loads of linen.
• Move fingers, arms and hands quickly and easily to shake, sort, wash, dry, load, fold and stack linen.
• Push heavy linen carts.
• Reach and bend for varying lengths of time, often long periods.
• Visually inspect linen.

Physical Demands

Lifting thirty (30) pounds maximum, pushing one hundred (100) pound cart, frequent reaching, twisting, bending, stooping, walking, standing, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, smiling.
