R elevant Experience

  • 5–7 years’ experience within the steel industry, with strong market, customer, and product knowledge.
  • Proven experience engaging with customers within the Mining, Agriculture, Water, Engineering, Oil & Gas, Construction, and Road/Rail Transport sectors.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Valid Driver’s License

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

The primary function of this position is to identify, pursue, onboard, manage, and develop strategic customer accounts for the group. The role focuses on managing complex onboarding processes, building long-term customer relationships, understanding customer operational requirements, and supporting sustainable revenue growth through strategic account development and account management.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Key responsibilities related to this position include

  • Identifying, developing, and onboarding new strategic customer accounts for the group.
  • Managing complex customer onboarding and approval processes from initial engagement through to account activation.
  • Building, developing, and maintaining long-term relationships with key stakeholders within customer accounts.
  • Understanding customer operational, commercial, and technical requirements and aligning suitable group solutions accordingly.
  • Managing and growing sales within strategic customer accounts through consistent engagement and relationship development.
  • Providing ongoing after-sales service and support to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and account retention.
  • Coordinating internally with sales, operations, production, procurement, logistics, quality, and finance teams to ensure successful execution of customer requirements.
  • Managing customer orders from placement through to completion, delivery, and payment.
  • Following up on customer transactions and ensuring adherence to agreed payment terms and settlement conditions.
  • Conducting customer engagement meetings, presentations, and strategic discussions with decision-makers.
  • Supporting commercial negotiations, quotations, tender submissions, and contractual discussions where required.
  • Monitoring market activity, customer trends, and competitor developments to identify growth opportunities.
  • Maintaining accurate records of customer engagements, onboarding progress, sales activity, and pipeline reporting.
  • Ensuring professional communication and relationship management with both internal and external stakeholders at all times.
  • Assisting with account payment follow-ups and maintaining healthy customer accounts in line with agreed payment terms and company policies.
