Job description
Overview
Post-doctorate fellow at Dr. XiuMin Li from the Department of Pathology, Microbiology & Immunology, New York Medical College. Excellent laboratory skills and great attention to detail are much needed. Will work closely with the principal investigator (PI) and co-PI performing standard assays in BSL1 and BSL2 environments, in-vitro murine works, and other experiments to further analyze data and present at lab meetings, and conferences. The candidate will also participate in grant writing, manuscripts, and research reports.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine standard assays in BSL1 and BSL2 environments, including qRT-PCR, western blot, flow cytometry, cell culture, ELISA, intracellular cytokine staining, cell/tissue processing, and animal experiments.
- Design and execute experiments to identify biomarkers of small molecule therapeutics for cancer and other inflammatory diseases.
- Perform and document all specimen test procedures with accuracy, consistency, and timeliness, in accordance with laboratory protocols and regulatory guidelines; and assist with the generation and updating of said laboratory protocols
- Perform basic lab maintenance tasks, such as ordering laboratory reagents and other supplies, and keeping detailed laboratory records
- Participate in grant writing, abstracts, manuscripts, and research reports to present at lab meetings and national/international conferences, assist PI/co-PI with IACUC paperwork preparation including initial application, amendment and renewal
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary scientists to perform experiments.
Qualifications
Education requirement: Minimum: Ph.D. in the fields of microbiology, molecular biology and/or related.
Technical/computer skills
- Proficiency with complex laboratory calculations
- Knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control procedures and practices including standard precautions and hazardous chemical handling
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers, and clients.
Prior experience: Animal care and animal model handling.
Other skills/requirements: Communicate, show leadership, have good organizational skills, work in a dynamic team environment, and collaborate with other labs.
Physical: Ability to work with sensitive materials and scientific equipment.
Environmental
- Basic sciences wet laboratory setting
- May require working in close proximity to animals.
- May at times require working with or being in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present.
- May perform tasks that require the use of personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and shoes, protective clothing and gloves, and possibly a respirator.
- May require extended or unusual work hours based on research requirements and business needs.
Maximum Salary
USD $42,000.00/Yr.
Minimum Salary
USD $33,600.00/Yr.
