Clinical Supervisor

Overview

Clinical Supervisors provide direct supervision of graduate student clinicians in the department’s speech and language clinic. Duties of this position include:

• Assist in developing a clinic caseload appropriate for graduate student involvement.
• Provide information required for insurance billing.
• Provide direct supervision of graduate student clinicians.
• Meet with graduate student clinicians to discuss clinic progress.
• Review and edit required student paperwork (i.e., lesson plans, SOAP notes, progress reports, evaluation report) as needed.
• Ensure that required documentation is posted to the appropriate medical record system.
• Provide written feedback to students at midterm and end of semester.
• Approve graduate student clinician clock hours.
• Participate in scheduled clinical education meetings.
• Complete required online training as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage a clinic caseload.
• Provide required patient documentation for timely insurance billing.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with patients, staff and student clinicians.
• Keep up to date with compliance training, licensure, and certification requirements.

Qualifications

Education requirement: Master’s degree in speech-language pathology.

Licenses or certifications: NYS License in speech-language pathology; Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Technical/computer skills: Computer use to complete written documentation, ability to access web-based system for approving clinical clock hours, posting information in electronic medical record, submitting billing information, submission of timesheet.

Prior experience: Clinical instructor must complete at least two hours of continuing education in supervision.

Internal Contacts: IT, HR, SHSP Dean’s office.

External Contacts : IT (Boston Children’s Health Physicians), HR (Boston Children’s Health Physicians), insurance companies, parents, caregivers, patients.

Maximum Salary

USD $48.75/Hr.
