Position Overview

Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a Full-Time Hospitalist (Internal Medicine or Family Medicine) to join its inpatient care team serving the Central Maine region. This physician will provide comprehensive hospitalist coverage across three affiliated hospitals within the system.

Primary coverage sites include

  • Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) – Lewiston, Maine
  • Bridgton Hospital (BH) – Bridgton, Maine
  • Rumford Hospital (RH) – Rumford, Maine

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient medical care including admissions, daily rounds, consultations, and discharges for hospitalized adult patients.
  • Coordinate patient care with specialists, nursing teams, case management, and ancillary staff to ensure high-quality and efficient care delivery.
  • Collaborate with emergency department physicians regarding admissions and patient management.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and discharge planning to support optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation within the electronic medical record system.
  • Support clinical quality initiatives, patient safety programs, and system-wide protocols aligned with the standards of Prime Healthcare.
  • Provide coverage across the three hospital campuses as part of an integrated hospitalist team.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
  • Eligible for or able to obtain a Maine medical license.
  • Active DEA registration.
  • Strong clinical, communication, and collaborative skills.
