This role is responsible for planning and coordinating the operating room booking and scheduling system according to established surgical booking and scheduling guidelines, as well as the follow up of all unscheduled surgeries/ procedures. The Surgical Coordinator must also work with the relevant teams to ensure smooth throughput and coordination of all surgeries/ procedures. This role is also responsible for leading elective and emergency booking activities in adherence with Department of Health and M42 regulations, standards and protocols.
Responsibilities

Own the daily surgical schedule — from elective cases to urgent add-ons — ensuring smooth flow and maximum utilization of operating theatres.

Collaborate directly with surgeons, nurses, and managers to align clinical needs and booking priorities.
•
Serve as the go-to contact for case scheduling, patient coordination, and procedure readiness.
•
Navigate and update patient information in Cerner (Electronic Medical Record) with precision — managing forms, case notes, scheduling data, and professional communication.

Maintain accurate procedure codes and theatre utilization metrics to support billing and performance tracking.
•
Review pre-admission data, identify abnormalities, and ensure patients are fully cleared for surgery — flagging anything that needs physician review.

Coordinate multiple complex schedules with ease, balancing surgeon availability, room capacity, and urgent demands.

Support financial clearance and authorizations, working with internal teams to ensure smooth approvals.
•
Act as a reliable liaison across departments — keeping everything aligned and on time.
Qualifications
- Preferably Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field
- 3 years’ Operation Theatre (OT) experience or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
- Knowledge of OT related information systems, protocols and procedures
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic
