Welder
Job description
We are looking for a talented and skilled Welder to join our multicultural and diverse team in Kuwait. You will be responsible for Performing day to day shift activities related with welding and gas cutting, repairs, attending planned and unplanned shutdowns.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Operate Arc, Metal Inert Gas, and Tungsten Inert Gas welding equipment as per maintenance and fabrication needs.
- Handle fabrication of brackets, guards, and supports as per approved drawings.
- Build up cracked or worn-out components under supervision following proper repair procedures.
- Support welding activities across different plants or areas, contributing to centralized or shared-service initiatives for standardized mechanical equipment, promoting best practices, technical consistency, and efficient use of internal resources.
- Participate in and execute approved equipment improvement, modification, and redesign activities, including minor projects and reliability initiatives, using internal resources, in coordination with Maintenance Engineers and Supervisors.
- Inspect welds through visual and dimensional checks to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Read and interpret basic fabrication drawings to perform accurate weld positioning and assembly.
- Perform welding in positions from 1G to 6G as required.
- Handle pipe welding tasks as per job and safety requirements.
- Notify supervisors of safety risks, defective tools, or abnormal conditions.
- Maintain fire watch and ensure safe welding practices in compliance with plant safety standards.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Required Qualifications:
- Technical Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Maintenance, Welding & Fabrication, or related discipline.
- Welding certification in one or more area
- Preferred Experience:
- Technical Certification: Minimum 3 years of hands-on welding and fabrication experience in a steel industry or heavy industry operations.
- Diploma: Minimum 2 years of hands-on welding and fabrication experience in steel industry or heavy industry operations.
- Relevant experience may include:
o Prior exposure to shutdowns, routine maintenance, and shift-based operations is highly preferred. o Experience working with safety procedures, technical drawings, and SOPs in a field-based environment is an advantage. o Hands-on experience performing ARC, MIG, and TIG welding and basic fabrication works in a rolling mill or heavy industrial maintenance environment.
Job-Specific Skills
- Ability to operate ARC, MIG, and TIG welding equipment for maintenance and fabrication tasks.
- Ability to perform basic fabrication works such as build-up of worn components and fabrication of simple structures under supervision.
- Ability to read and follow basic fabrication drawings for weld positioning and assembly.
- Ability to safely use grinders, cutting torches, and standard welding tools.
