Starter Generator Technician
Job description
JOB PURPOSE
To perform inspection, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of aircraft Starter/Generator assemblies in accordance with FAA Part 145 regulations, manufacturer specifications, and company quality standards. This role ensures all components meet airworthiness requirements, supports safe and reliable aircraft operations, and contributes to the repair station's compliance, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions include
Inspection and Evaluation
- Perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections of aircraft Starter and Generators and related components.
- Identify wear, corrosion, cracks or other defects using approved inspection methods and tools
Maintenance & Repair
- Disassemble, clean, and repair starter generator assemblies in accordance with manufacturer manuals and FAA regulation.
- Replace defective parts, seals, and hardware using approved parts, materials and methods.
- Balance and reassemble components to meet operational specifications.
Overhaul & Testing
- Conduct complete overhauls of starter generator units, including bead seating, bearing replacement, and torque checks.
- Perform functional testing to verify serviceability.
Documentation & Compliance
- Accurately complete maintenance records, work orders and FAA required documentation.
- Ensure all work complies with Part 145 Repair Station Manual (RSM) and Quality Control Manual (QCM) requirements.
Tooling & Equipment Care
- Maintain calibration and cleanliness of tools, test stands, and work areas.
- Report and tag unserviceable tools and equipment.
Safety & Quality Assurance
- Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and hazardous material handling procedures.
- Participate in internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
Teamwork & Communication
- Coordinate with inspectors, supervisors, and other technicians to ensure workflow efficiency.
- Communicate technical findings and recommendations clearly.
Work Location: PAG Offices
Education/Training: Technical or Aviation Trade School graduate preferred, any experience in repairing components acceptable.
Experience: One year of aviation-related training or work experience preferred.
