Calibration Engineer - Diagnosis & OBD

About the Role
We are seeking a technically strong and self-driven Diagnosis Calibration Engineer to develop, calibrate, validate, and optimize diagnostic functions for Diesel and Gasoline powertrain systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, functional specifications, and customer expectations. The role includes software function calibration, HIL/LabCar validation, engine and vehicle testing, data analysis, and technical issue resolution.
You will work closely with OEM customers, independently own assigned projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, drive technical discussions, resolve engineering challenges, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality diagnostic solutions. Strong analytical skills, customer focus, and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, calibrate, and validate diagnostic functions for Diesel and Gasoline powertrain systems in compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
Create and maintain diagnostic software functions, calibration labels, and OBD datasets.
Calibrate DSM and OBD diagnostic functions to ensure robust fault detection and compliance.
Execute diagnostic calibration and validation on HIL/LabCar, engine dynamometer, and vehicle platforms.
Travel regularly to OEM customer locations for on-site calibration, validation, vehicle testing, technical discussions, and project execution.
Independently own assigned projects and technical work packages, ensuring timely delivery and customer satisfaction.
Interface with OEM customers, drive technical discussions, and provide regular project status updates.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and achieve project milestones.
Analyze test data, optimize calibration parameters, and maintain calibration datasets using ICDM, VCDM, or equivalent tools.
Develop calibration automation solutions and participate in vehicle expeditions under extreme ambient conditions..
What We’re Looking For
B.E, M.Tech (Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electronics).
5 to 8 years of relevant work experience.
Experienced in technically leading / working on calibration development projects
Excellent knowledge of powertrain systems and sub-systems
Good knowledge of developing engine management systems and testing techniques
Ability to use model-based calibration tools e.g. Inca, Uniplot, Cameo, ASCMO, AVL Puma, etc.
Experienced user of analytical software tools to handle large volumes of data.
Ability to understand, interpret and evaluate numerical data
Knowledge of Modelling and Simulation techniques
Knowledge of coding/programming languages
Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems
Sound understanding of engine combustion processes and emissions formulation
Knowledge and experience INCA and ETAS tools.
Skilled in statistical testing techniques i.e. Design of Experiments (DoE)
Complete work in a safe, timely and professional manner with the minimum of supervision
Flexibility to undertake additional task to meet business requirements
Highly motivated, keen to learn and share knowledge. High attention to detail
Excellent communication skills.
Flexibility to travel as and when required to customer site for calibration and validation activities
Nice to Have
Experience with calibration automation using Python, MATLAB, CAPL, or C/C++.
Knowledge of Functional Safety (ISO 26262), Diagnostics Communication (UDS/CAN), or AUTOSAR architecture.
Knowledge of AI/ML-based techniques for calibration optimization, data analytics, anomaly detection, or predictive diagnostics.
Exposure to Model-Based Development (MBD) tools such as MATLAB/Simulink or Cameo.
Experience with global OEM programs, customer-facing roles
