ABOUT THE ROLE
Morrison Foerster is looking for a Client Relations Manager to help shape how we grow and deepen relationships with the Firm's key clients. In this role, you'll partner closely with the Director of Client Relations and client relationship partners to bring structure and momentum to high-priority clients — supporting client teams across financial services, professional services, consumer products, and beyond. You'll turn client action plans into real progress, lead targeting and pursuit efforts, and help ensure every touchpoint reflects the exceptional experience MoFo clients expect. This is a role for someone who thrives on collaboration — working hand-in-hand with the Client Relations Group, Marketing, and colleagues across the Firm — and who finds genuine satisfaction in building relationships that last.
Here's a polished version, tightened for parallel structure and active, engaging language:
- Partners with the Director of Client Relations to develop, maintain, and execute action plans for assigned client teams, driving progress against key objectives.
- Keeps client teams informed on plan progress through monthly newsletters (developed with the Client Relations Coordinator), client team meetings, and other channels.
- Organizes client team meetings — shaping agendas, leading discussions, and drafting and distributing notes and action plan updates. Prepares for and attends Department Chair meetings to discuss client relationship strategy.
- Proactively identifies opportunities to grow client relationships and brings creative thinking to converting those opportunities into action.
- Suggests, plans, executes, and attends client events, CLE trainings, and sponsorships that deepen relationships and add tangible value for clients.
- Engages client relationship partners on event invitation lists, CLE training opportunities, award nominations, and other value-add services for clients.
- Advises Business Development colleagues on pitches, bringing insight into client preferences and strategy, and coordinates pitches that are cross-practice or otherwise outside the Business Development group's coverage.
- Coordinates client reporting — ensuring responses are timely, accurate, and clear.
- Delivers an excellent client experience on administrative matters: liaising with other firm departments and client timekeepers on guideline compliance, supporting billing queries and conflicts questions, and serving as the go-to point of contact for the assigned client teams.
- Supports client interviews with prep materials and client liaison, and ensures appropriate follow-up based on interview feedback.
- Stays attuned to developments in clients' and prospects' businesses, proactively spotting and pursuing opportunities for new work.
ABOUT YOU
- Bachelor's degree required, with five years' experience in legal business development and/or client relations; experience at a similar law firm strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate strong client relationships and respond effectively to client needs within a legal services environment, paired with knowledge of business/strategic planning and the ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative information.
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of the Firm, its clients, and its practices, navigating across the organization to understand the implications of proposed solutions, and to lead collaboratively beyond the Client Relations Group.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and research skills, with the ability to approach problems logically, synthesize large amounts of information into practical intelligence, and define key business questions and issues.
- Excellent communication, writing, and editing skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and confidently to individuals at all levels of the Firm, including in public forums.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the maturity to build trust and credibility across partners, associates, staff, and clients, and to work collaboratively and achieve consensus among diverse viewpoints.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented self-starter who can independently set objectives, manage competing priorities, and respond promptly to urgent issues, all while maintaining a strong client-service orientation and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with the ability to quickly learn new technologies; experience with Salesforce strongly preferred.
