Job Overview
Under the direction of the Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician I is responsible for day-to-day comprehensive pharmacy technician services in a complex healthcare environment. This includes the processing of orders and the preparation and delivery of medications. The Pharmacy Technician will skillfully use interpersonal, customer service, problem solving and collaboration skills to support and influence operational objectives.
Responsibilities
- Partner with care providers and pharmacists to ensure that patient receives the needed medication accurately, safely, in accordance with all legal requirements and policies and in a professional and timely manner.
- Under the direction of the pharmacist, receive prescription/orders from electronic medical record, process manually or using the appropriate computer system and protocols, prepare drug therapy and/or dispense medication in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with all legal, regulatory agency and MHealth Fairview requirements.
- Coordinate ordering, delivery of medications, supplies and equipment to patients and clinical areas as requested.
- Participate in regulatory, quality assurance and process improvement activities and other projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School or equivalent.
- Pharmacy Technician MN Eligible to become registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the MN State Board of Pharmacy and eligible to become certified with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
- Nationally certified or become certified within 1-1/2 Yrs
- Certifying exams must have National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) accreditation, with examples including, Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam and The Exam for Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT).
