- Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center is an 820,000-square-foot facility that offers the latest medical programs, cutting-edge technology, and patient-focused care that includes 365 beds, 1,200+ employees, and a 27-bed Emergency Room/Fast Track Unit.
Responsibilities
- The Special Procedures Tech is responsible for assisting the Physician during interventional radiological procedures.
- Provides assistance to Physicians, other Radiology Technicians, and Registered Nurses in the performance of more complex procedures.
- Coordinates the daily activities within the Interventional Radiology Department.
- Performs diagnostic radiographic procedures in accordance with approved technique and the ALARA limits.
- Positions the patient on the examining table and sets up and adjusts equipment to obtain an optimum view of the specific body area as requested by the physician.
- Functions to work independently and in a cooperative manner in teamwork teamwork-oriented atmosphere within the department and hospital-wide.
- Explains procedures to the patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation.
- Under the direction of a Radiologist or Vascular Surgeon, performs all Interventional procedures on all patient populations.
- Prepares and maintains a sterile environment by using aseptic techniques, drapes, equipment, and solutions while assisting the interventional radiologist.
- Practices established principles of radiation safety and protection.
- Demonstrates appropriate and effective use of all radiographic equipment and computer systems such as RIS, PACS, and other hospital-based computer or PC systems.
- Utilizes time productively and appropriately with respect to patient flow, room use, stocking of supplies, and clerical duties to increase department efficiency.
Qualifications
Job Requirements
•
High School diploma or equivalent.
•
2+ years’ experience as a Radiology Technician.
•
Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technology program.
•
NJ Diagnostic Radiology License.
•
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification.
•
BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
Preferred Job Requirements
- 2+ years’ experience in Interventional or Cath lab.
Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education , and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
