Position Summary

We are seeking an entry-level BlackLine System Administrator to support the administration, maintenance, and optimization of the BlackLine platform. This role is responsible for executing daily system activities, supporting period-end processes, maintaining internal controls, and assisting users to ensure efficient and compliant financial operations.
This role serves as a key liaison between Finance/Accounting and IT, responsible for translating business requirements into effective system solutions, ensuring data integrity, and providing user support and training.
The ideal candidate has a foundation in accounting and financial systems with experience in Blackline. They will work closely with local accounting teams, IT, and corporate finance to manage the administration of Blackline, troubleshoot system-related issues, and ensure compliance with internal controls. They will possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, along with a solid understanding of accounting principles and financial close processes.

 

Responsibilities

1. Blackline Administration & Oversight

  • Perform daily administration of the BlackLine system, including monitoring system performance and resolving basic issues.
  • Managing user access, roles, and permissions within the Blackline system to maintain security and compliance.
  • Configuring and customizing the Blackline platform to meet specific organizational needs, including setting up accounts, workflows, and templates.
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency within the Blackline system.
  • Support integration points between BlackLine and ERP system
  • Support and testing within Blackline as needed.
  • Approval requests regarding account tasks, journals, closing activities.
  • Guide users on best practices for utilizing Blackline functionalities.
  • Supporting enhancements to existing modules and implementing future modules to support organization’s needs.

2. Period-End & Close Management

  • Assist in the opening and closing of accounting periods within BlackLine
  • Monitor close calendars and ensure tasks are completed on time
  • Track and follow up on outstanding reconciliations and tasks
  • Generate status reports and dashboards for management during the close process

3. Blackline Reporting

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate financial processes within Blackline.
  • Preparation of general ledger reconciliation reporting on both key and non-key accounts.
  • Preparation of reporting on journal entries done outside of Blackline.
  • Work with IT and finance teams to maintain system controls and data accuracy.

3. Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Monitor and enforce internal controls related to the Blackline System.
  • Assist with J SOX compliance efforts, ensuring documentation and approvals align with audit requirements.
  • Identify and escalate risks related to blackline.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Reporting

  • Collaborate with IT to resolve system issues, data discrepancies, and process inefficiencies.
  • Develop training materials and deliver training sessions to end-users to enhance their understanding and utilization of Blackline.

5. User Support & Training

  • Serve as the first point of contact for BlackLine user questions and support requests
  • Provide basic training and guidance to new and existing users
  • Create and maintain user guides and documentation
  • Escalate complex technical issues to senior administrators or vendors as needed

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, information systems or related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in accounting, financial systems, and/or financial governance.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial close processes
  • Exposure to Blackline or similar financial close software
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Overall understanding of ERP systems and functionality.
  • Basic understanding of internal controls and JSOX compliance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with finance, IT, and local accounting teams.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
