JOB OVERVIEW Profession: Physician Specialty: Emergency Medicine Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Morgan City, Louisiana Facility: Ochsner St. Mary Health System: SCP Health - Locums Coverage Period: Jun 26, 2026 – Ongoing Shift Schedule: Variable shifts (24-hour physician coverage) Reason for Coverage: Coverage Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered PATIENT INFORMATION Average Daily Volume: 28,000 annual ED visits (approx. 77 patients/day) Case Mix: General Emergency Medicine, consistent with Level 3 acuity Rounding: Not required FACILITY INFORMATION No. of Beds in Department: 15 ED beds Trauma Level: Level 3 EMR System: Epic Support Staff Available: NP/PA coverage 16 hours/day, nursing staff PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: Yes REQUIRED PROCEDURES Sedation (moderate/deep) JOB REQUIREMENTS Board: Board Certified in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine Licenses: Active unrestricted Louisiana Medical License, DEA with LA address, LA Controlled Substance, Supervising Physician License (for PA supervision) DEA / CDS: Active DEA with LA address; LA Controlled Substance required Certifications: ACLS, PALS; ATLS required if not ABEM certified Experience: Residency completion in EM, FM, or IM; new graduates accepted Other Qualifications: CME for past 2 years, case logs for past 2 years, current immunizations (flu, TB, COVID-19), completion of sedation modules, meets NP/PA supervising physician requirements DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide direct emergency medical care in a 15-bed ED with 28,000 annual visits Supervise NP/PA staff during their 16-hour daily coverage Perform sedation procedures and consult specialist backup as needed Document all patient encounters in the Epic EMR Maintain facility privileging and compliance, including sedation modules and reappointment processes
