JOB OVERVIEW Profession: Physician Specialty: Emergency Medicine Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Lafayette, Indiana Facility: Franciscan Health Lafayette East Health System: SCP Health - Locums Coverage Period: Oct 28, 2026 – Ongoing Reason for Coverage: Coverage Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered PATIENT INFORMATION Average Daily Volume: ~50,000 annual ED visits (approx. 137 patients per day) Case Mix: General emergency medicine including trauma, ENT, orthopedics, GYN, and cardiac monitoring FACILITY INFORMATION No. of Beds in Department: 33-bed ED with 3 trauma bays Trauma Level: Level III Support Staff Available: NPs/PAs (36 hours/day coverage) and scribe support REQUIRED PROCEDURES Moderate Sedation JOB REQUIREMENTS Board: Board Certified in EM (ABEM/AOBEM) or ABMS-recognized specialty with 5 years full-time EM experience in high-volume ED (>30k visits/year) Licenses: Active unrestricted Indiana Medical License and Indiana State Controlled Substance registration DEA / CDS: Active DEA with Indiana address, schedules 2,2N,3,3N,4 Certifications: BLS Experience: EM residency graduates within past 12 months or IM physicians with 5 years continuous full-time EM experience in high-volume ED (>30k annual visits) Other Qualifications: Case logs for past 2 years, completed CME attestation form, required immunizations (Flu, TB/chest X-ray, COVID-19); must have actual license, board certification, and DEA in hand at time of presentation DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide comprehensive emergency medical care in a high-volume Level III trauma center. Perform moderate sedation procedures as needed. Supervise and collaborate with nurse practitioners/physician assistants and scribes. Manage acute trauma and specialty cases including ENT, orthopedics, GYN, and cardiac patients. Maintain accurate documentation, case logs, and compliance with CME requirements.
