HR Advisor

The HR Advisor provides high-quality, HR generalist support for Arch Underwriting at Lloyd’s Australia (AUALA). HR Advisor acts as a trusted partner and first point of contact for general HR matters, providing assistance to employees and managers with practical guidance, and first point of general queries.
HR Advisor works closely with the UK HR Operations team to ensure consistency with HR support and assist HR Business Partners to deliver a responsive, customer-focused HR service and support key personnel processes and initiatives.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
HR Generalist duties
- Provide HR guidance to Arch Insurance Australia population regarding general HR queries- employment information, entitlements, probation period, absence, HR policies and HR processes clarification, parental leave, flexible working arrangement queries, taking into account business risks. Escalate higher level queries to HRBP.
- Manage employee relations matters, and escalate more complex matters to HRBP.
- Manage immigration matters. Obtain guidance from HRBP, where needed.
- Prepare documentation related to employee hire, onboarding, offboarding, parental leave, job changes, contingent workers, and guideline managers on relevant processes. Obtain guidance from HRBP, where needed.
- Manage employee records in conjunctions with business and legal requirements. Obtain guidance from HRBP where needed.
- Provide guidance to managers on WorkDay processes and related HR practice.
- Assist HRBP in performance management and visa documentation.
- Escalate complex or high-risk employee relations cases to HR Business Partners and keep them updated on progress and risk.
HR Projects and Changes
- Identify and suggest improvements to HR processes and procedures.
- Ensure WorkDay data and employment records are correct and manage relevant corrections.
- Support HR Business Partner (HRBP) in delivering people initiatives and change activity in line with business needs.
- Lead ad hoc HR projects with clear milestones and agreed deliverables.
- Assist HRBP in reports preparation and WGEA report lodgment.
Stakeholder Management and Communication
- Build effective relationships through a strong understanding of business and employee needs.
- Provide expert advice grounded in HR knowledge and best practice, influencing and challenging managers to deliver strong outcomes. Work with HRBP when guidance and assistance is needed. Escalate higher level queries to HRBP.
General HR Administration and HR Operations tasks
- Act as a first point of contact for employee relations queries, fostering positive relationships between employees and the business.
- Produce HR data and insights for the business and wider HR team to support informed action, when requested.
- Maintain the HR tracker and follow up on relevant actions.
- Manage employee processes in WorkDay in timely manner.
- Monitor deadlines pertaining fixed- term contracts ends, visa requirements, contingent workers, temporary employee changes, and communicate relevant deadlines with line managers and HRBP.
- Assist HRBP in coordinating business learning needs, including future skills and technical training requirements.
- Support the wider HR Operations team as needed, based on workflow priorities and business value.
- Work with Payroll team to provide payroll monthly employee information.
- Work with Benefits team to provide data on new hires and leavers.
- Manage annual Retention data project.
Role Requirements & Skills
- Experience working in the financial services- welcome.
- Experience working in HR role- minimum 2 years.
- Experience working in matrix, faced- passed and international organization- desirable.
- Qualifications within HR field- desirable.
- Good working knowledge of HR best practice.
- Sound knowledge of legislative instruments and labour law practice.
- Experience using WorkDay- desirable.
- High level of discretion, confidentiality, high work ethics.
- Great attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and manage own time productively.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while contributing as part of the team.
- Comfortable working to tight deadlines and adapting to changing priorities.
- Good working experience using Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).· Flexible approach and willingness to learn and improve status quo.
- Ability to think strategically, commercially and with problem solving approach.
