Scope of Eligibility Open to applicants who meet the requirements below.
Program Description The Office of Legal Affairs facilitates all Departmental rulemaking, prepares agency final decisions, and processes subpoenas and tort claims notices. The office also provides litigation, transactional and regulatory compliance assistance as needed. The office manages the Office of Records Access and incoming OPRA requests. The office also manages the Ethics Office for the department.
Specific to the Position Position 1 The intern will assist with regulatory matters, hearing requests, legal research and other matters related to administrative procedure considered by the Department. The intern will also assist with ethics projects. Position 2 The intern will assist with regulatory matters, hearing requests, legal research and other matters related to administrative procedure considered by the Department. The intern will also assist with ethics projects.
Preferred Skillset Position 1 Legal research/writing, attention to detail, strong communication and organizational skills. Position 2 Legal research/writing, attention to detail, strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Area of Study Position 1 Seeking individuals enrolled at an accredited university/college studying Political Science, Public Policy, Law, Pre-Law, or Environmental Sciences. Position 2 Seeking individuals enrolled at an accredited university/college studying Political Science, Public Policy, Law, Pre-Law, or Environmental Sciences.
License Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
