Job description
Job Summary Responsible for selecting and purchasing merchandise to meet sales, margin, and inventory objectives. Works with suppliers and internal teams to negotiate terms, monitor product performance, and ensure timely delivery. Number of Positions 2 Main Duties Analyze market trends, sales data, and customer demand to determine product assortment and purchasing priorities. Source, evaluate, and maintain relationships with suppliers; request quotes and negotiate pricing and contract terms. Create and manage purchase orders, delivery schedules, and inventory replenishment plans to maintain optimal stock levels. Monitor supplier performance, delivery timelines, and product quality, and address discrepancies or shortages. Collaborate with merchandising, sales, and operations teams to align purchasing decisions with promotional plans and forecasts. Prepare regular reports and analyses on purchasing activities, cost savings, inventory turnover, and product performance. Requirements Post-secondary education in business, commerce, supply chain, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. At least two years of purchasing, procurement, or merchandising experience in a retail or wholesale environment. Experience using inventory management, procurement, or ERP software and proficiency with spreadsheet tools. Demonstrated negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships and contracts. Ability to analyze sales, margin, and market data to inform purchasing decisions and optimize assortments. Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
