Job description

Operations Engineer III - India, Chennai - Hybrid, Office-Based

ICON is a global healthcare intelligence and clinical research organisation united by a mission to bring new medicines and treatments to patients faster.

As a values-driven organisation, integrity, collaboration, agility, and inclusion are at the heart of how we work and interact with each other, customers, patients and suppliers.

We are currently seeking an EUC Engineer III to join our diverse and high‑performing IT Operations team. As an EUC Engineer III, you will act as a senior technical leader responsible for the design, stability, and continuous improvement of enterprise endpoint and virtual desktop platforms.

In this role, you will own engineering decisions across modern endpoint management, VDI, and EUC services, using data‑driven insights to improve reliability, security, and user experience. You will apply strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills to lead complex incidents, guide technical strategy, and support business‑critical EUC services at scale.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Lead the engineering, operation, and continuous improvement of enterprise EUC platforms including Intune, MECM/SCCM, Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops, Jamf, Group Policy, and supporting AWS components.
  • Act as technical lead during major EUC and VDI incidents, driving diagnosis, resolution, and measurable preventative remediation.
  • Define secure configuration baselines, compliance standards, and build quality metrics using modern endpoint management frameworks.
  • Use operational data and KPIs to drive decisions, identify risks, influence roadmap priorities, and support capacity planning.
  • Strengthen endpoint security posture through Conditional Access, Defender, OS hardening, and compliance policy enforcement.
  • Own complex change deployments, ensuring proper validation, documentation, and adherence to IT change and governance processes.
  • Produce high‑quality runbooks, standards, dashboards, and data‑backed reports for technical teams and senior leadership.
  • Collaborate closely with infrastructure, security, service desk, and application teams to deliver integrated EUC solutions.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, promoting best practices, operational excellence, and a data‑first mindset.
  • Participate in off‑hours support and on‑call rotations as required to maintain service availability.

Your Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong enterprise‑level experience with modern endpoint and EUC technologies including Intune, MECM/SCCM, Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops, Jamf Pro, Group Policy, and foundational AWS services.
  • Proven experience leading complex incident resolution and delivering quantified root cause analyses.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate, interpret, and present operational data, dashboards, and KPIs to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Deep knowledge of Windows and macOS platforms, endpoint security, patching, application delivery, and profile management technologies.
  • Experience operating in regulated or security‑conscious enterprise environments.
  • Strong scripting capability (PowerShell and macOS scripting preferred).
  • Proven leadership qualities with the ability to mentor junior engineers and take ownership of critical services.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment with the flexibility to provide out‑of‑hours support as required.
