The Vice President of Development will report to the President and will be responsible for leading the corporate development to meet its goals and objectives. The leadership role will help foster and guide Arlo's representation, awareness, and reputation to the hotel ownership and development community, and execute on new brand and management agreements to meet or exceed the hotels' development goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITIES
- Manage and coordinate the creation of Arlo Hotels' collateral and material to accelerate Arlo Hotels' development goals
- Ability to initiate and manage new development leads and owner or 3rd party relationships.
- Serve as a contact for prospective owner/developer and project coordinator during the critical deal evaluation and deal negotiation phases
- Manage and coordinate with the various team members at Arlo (e.g. sales, marketing, design, business intelligence) to:
- Understand and highlight Arlo's competitive advantages relative to its key competition
- Inform them on what KPIs are important to potential Arlo clients
- Engage them to assist with any prospective client communication or pitches
- Collaborate with the marketing and hotel operations teams
- Identify Arlo's key competition in various markets and track the competition
- Monitor all new development activity in key markets
- Direct and review feasibility analysis for potential sites and markets
- Lead/initiate deal structure for prospective development opportunities
- Lead overall review and direction of pro-forma to ensure alignment between various parties
- Promote company products and services to key clients in tradeshows, conferences, and meetings
- Develop strategies and achievable plans to target key business segments
- Track market activities and business trends
- Identify areas and segments for improvement and create programs to address any gaps and shortfalls.
- Maintain positive and supportive relationships with the Arlo Hotels team
- Strategize and establish brand wide business development initiatives
- Provide advice and counsel to executive management on the brand and management terms
- Continuously evaluate hotels involvement in the various marketing and awareness campaigns for the owner/developer community
- Set goals and expectations for yourself and direct reports, align performance and incentives, manage performance issues and hold team and yourself accountable for results
- Provide leadership to help drive productivity and performance. Timely execution of specific assignments.
- Prepare pre-trip and post-trip reporting of any travel and business development related activities.
- Participate in weekly and monthly meetings
- Develop, implement and execute strategies in a quarterly action plans to impact awareness and interest, target accounts and the development of new business opportunities within assigned market segments.
- Maintain positive relations and high visibility in relative business organizations such as Eastdil, HVS, LWHA, RobertDouglas, HotelAVE.
Job Requirements
- University or college degree or equivalent work experience
- 8+ years experience in hotel business development experience.
- Computer proficiency and working experience with Microsoft Office and other communications software
- Hotel systems experience including STR, CoStar
- Proven record of originating and executing hotel deals throughout North America
- Strong financial acumen and ability to evaluate hotel operating pro-forma while initiating, forming, and maintaining development leads
- Prior experience working for a lifestyle hotel brand, owner, and/or operator.
- Self-starter and self-leadership skills
- Ability to collaborate along with interpersonal skills
- Willing to embrace and put forth new, creative ideas to advance the organization
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
Salary: $215,000 per annum
