Senior QA Engineer - Hackajob
Job description
Grade B - £39,390 - £47,121 (National Framework) or £44,792 - £52,523 (London Framework – if you are London office based or homebased and live within the boundary of the M25). There is also an additional homeworking allowance of £553 per annum for those working from home.
Contracted Hours: Full time 37 hours per week however compressed or flexible hours may be considered.
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: This role is fully home-based however we can accommodate hybrid and office-based working or talk to us about flexible working.

What you will bring…
You should be educated to degree level or have an equivalent qualification and experience of QA and testing of enterprise software or cloud-based solutions together with experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Power Platform.
Accountabilities
•
Analyse changes to, or the development of, products and services and plan design in both functional and non-functional environments.
•
Run and manage appropriate functional and non-functional tests to ensure that requirements have been fully met.
•
Identify the most effective techniques, data sets and tools to use including non-functional testing tools.
•
Automate and run tests in a continuous integration environment utilising manual testing by exception.
•
Manage communications between projects to control integration and dependencies.
•
Communicate defects or trends clearly to Software Engineers, outlining how defects are identified and the possible causes .
•
Think innovatively around problems in order to improve not just the code, but also the processes.
•
Use knowledge of testing tools and techniques in order to deliver continuous improvement, providing constructive challenge where required .
•
Design, or provide assurance for, appropriate risk-based end to-end system integration test models.
•
Work as part of multi-disciplinary teams to co-develop products or business change.
•
Build trust with people across roles encouraging learning through lessons learned.
•
Ensure effective and efficient services are built, meeting user needs and optimising test practices.
•
Raise risks with stakeholders in a timely manner and mitigate those risks early to reduce possible cost
•
Visualise, articulate, solve complex problems and concepts and make disciplined decisions based on available information.
•
Ensure that business solutions align with the vision, mission, objectives , strategy and the business and user needs and identify and recognise viable solution or controls.
•
Utilise a range of contemporary technologies including cloud platforms, open source and ‘ aaS ’ services to better enable and enhance the delivery of QA Engineering services.
•
Stay abreast of industry developments to make cost effective use of new and emerging tools and technologies.
•
Utilise a breadth of knowledge from across the wider technology and digital professions, strengthening the effective delivery of services.
•
Relevant professional awareness includes architecture, continuous integration and deployment, coding and scripting languages.
•
Engage and collaborate with people across departments and professions and communicate the importance of quality to departments and other stakeholders.
•
Provide feedback in a positive and empathetic manner.
•
Have the appropriate knowledge , skills and experience to actively promote diversity and equality of opportunity, treat everyone with dignity and respect and avoid unlawful discrimination
Essential Skills and Experience
•
Educated to degree-level, professional qualification or equivalent experience
•
Experience providing estimates to the required level of accuracy for backlog items.
•
Experience facilitating the definition of acceptance criteria and acceptance tests.
•
Experience providing visibility to end to end quality of the developed system
•
Experience creating and maintaining automated and manual acceptance tests for each developed user story.
•
Experience recording accurate outcomes of acceptance tests and regression tests and collaborating with team to answer queries regarding issues identified .
•
Experience working as part of multi-skilled, multi-disciplinary Agile teams delivering Web applications.
•
Knowledge and experience of Web technologies such as HTML, XML, SSL, Drupal, LAMP stack etc.
•
Experience working within a DevOps culture, with continual integration, continual testing and continual deployment of code
•
Knowledge and experience of a broad range of testing including but not limited to BDD, TDD, System Testing, Regression Testing and Integration Testing and non functional testing e.g. Load and Stress Testing
•
Knowledge and experience of a range of tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, Gerkin, JMeter, Postman, SOAPUI, Protractor, Git.
•
Experience of adapting to change, applying engineering principles to new technologies
