Job description

Job Description: As a CAT and Mercedes Trucks Mechanic, your primary responsibility will be to diagnose, repair, and maintain CAT and Mercedes trucks and their respective systems. You will work with a range of heavy-duty vehicles, including trucks, trailers, and construction equipment. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of these vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Vehicle Diagnosis and Repair:
  • Perform diagnostic tests to identify mechanical, electrical, and technical issues in CAT and Mercedes trucks.
  • Conduct inspections and use specialized tools to troubleshoot problems and determine the appropriate repairs.
  • Repair or replace faulty components, such as engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and electrical systems.
  • Ensure all repairs adhere to manufacturer specifications and quality standards.
  • Test vehicles after repairs to ensure proper functioning and identify any remaining issues.
  • Preventive Maintenance:
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks, to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal vehicle performance.
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance inspections and adhere to maintenance schedules provided by the manufacturer.
  • Identify potential problems and proactively address them to avoid costly repairs and vehicle downtime.
  • Keep accurate maintenance records and document all services performed.
  • Parts and Inventory Management:
  • Identify and procure the necessary parts and components for repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintain an inventory of spare parts and consumables, ensuring an adequate supply to support repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to source and purchase parts from authorized suppliers.
  • Document parts usage and ensure proper stock management to minimize delays in repairs.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Follow all applicable regulations and standards related to vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Ensure that vehicles meet regulatory requirements, such as emissions standards and safety inspections.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities performed on CAT and Mercedes trucks.
  • Generate reports on vehicle condition, repair history, and maintenance schedules.
  • Provide clear and detailed explanations of repair work performed to customers or supervisors.
  • Continuous Learning:
  • Stay updated on the latest technologies, tools, and techniques in the field of CAT and Mercedes truck maintenance and repair.
  • Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a technical or vocational training program in automotive or heavy equipment mechanics is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a mechanic specializing in CAT and Mercedes trucks.
  • In-depth knowledge of CAT and Mercedes truck systems, components, and diagnostics.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, equipment, and computer-based systems for troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve mechanical issues effectively.
  • Good physical stamina and manual dexterity to perform tasks such as lifting heavy parts and working in confined spaces.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with team members and customers.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
