This position is ideally suited to an individual who enjoys analytical work, takes pride in technical excellence, and values delivering meaningful outcomes through well-constructed financial planning.

  • Conduct detailed technical research and analysis across pensions, investments, protection, retirement planning, tax planning, and estate planning.
  • Prepare high-quality suitability reports for new business, ongoing reviews, and ad-hoc client recommendations.
  • Support the end-to-end advice process, ensuring recommendations are technically robust, compliant, and aligned to client objectives.
  • Liaise with advisers and operational teams to manage cases through to implementation and completion.
  • Produce technical research documents, recommendation summaries, product comparisons, and supporting documentation.
  • Utilise cashflow modelling tools, risk profiling systems, and research platforms to support the advice process.
  • Maintain awareness of regulatory developments, legislative changes, taxation updates, and industry best practice.
  • Assist in maintaining high standards of technical accuracy and compliance across all client recommendations.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will demonstrate

  • Strong technical knowledge across financial planning disciplines.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • A meticulous approach to detail and accuracy.
  • The ability to interpret complex information and communicate findings clearly.
  • Confidence in challenging assumptions and identifying potential risks or inconsistencies.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases effectively.
  • A collaborative approach to working within a professional advice environment.
  • A genuine interest in delivering positive client outcomes through quality financial planning.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in a Technical Paraplanning role within a regulated financial planning environment.
  • Experience preparing suitability reports and conducting technical research.
  • Strong understanding of pensions, investments, protection, taxation, and wider financial planning strategies.
  • Familiarity with cashflow modelling and risk profiling software.
  • Strong written communication and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining close collaboration with wider teams.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (Level 4) or equivalent.
  • Progression towards Chartered Financial Planner, Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or other advanced professional qualifications would be advantageous.

What Success Looks Like

  • Consistently delivering accurate, well-researched, and compliant recommendations.
  • Taking ownership of technical quality throughout the advice process.
  • Demonstrating a proactive approach to identifying planning opportunities and potential risks.
  • Building trusted relationships with advisers and colleagues through technical expertise and reliability.
  • Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and client-centric financial planning.
