Trade is an engine of growth that creates jobs, reduces poverty and increases economic opportunity. The World Bank Group helps its client countries improve their access to developed country markets and enhance their participation in the world economy and promote regional integration through common physical and institutional infrastructure.
The World Bank's Global Trade Policy & Integration Team (WKPTT) works to advance research, analysis, and policy dialogue on international trade and its role in promoting economic development, poverty reduction, and shared prosperity. The team produces a wide range of knowledge products, including reports, policy briefs, data tools, and communications materials aimed at a diverse audience of policymakers, researchers, and the general public.
To support the team's expanding knowledge and communications agenda, WKPTT seeks to hire a Communications and Data Analyst. This position will strengthen the team's capacity to communicate research findings effectively, manage and visualize data, and improve internal processes through automation.
Duties and Accountabilities
The Communications and Data Analyst will support the WKPTT team in three main areas: (i) external communications and content development; (ii) data management and visualization; and (iii) workflow automation. The analyst will work under the guidance of the WKPTT team lead and in close coordination with other team members, economists, and the Prosperity communications unit.
Major responsibilities include the following
Communications and Graphic Design
- Develop high-quality visual materials to communicate trade research findings, including infographics, charts, presentations, and social media assets.
- Assist in the preparation and dissemination of knowledge products such as reports, policy briefs, blog posts, and newsletters.
- Coordinate with the Prosperity communications team to ensure alignment with World Bank brand standards and messaging strategies.
- Present to and work with the WKPTT Editorial Committee in developing content.
Data Management and Visualization
- Manage data from relevant internal and external sources.
- Develop interactive and static data visualizations to support analytical outputs and public-facing communications.
- Maintain and update data dashboards and tools used by the team for monitoring and reporting purposes.
- Assist economists and researchers with the preparation of data exhibits for reports, presentations, and academic publications.
Automation and Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to streamline repetitive or manual team workflows and implement automation solutions accordingly.
- Develop and maintain scripts or tools to automate data processing, reporting, and communications tasks, as well as tasks for team management, such as cross-support time management.
- Provide technical support to team members in adopting digital tools that improve team efficiency and output quality.
Reporting Arrangements
The Communications and Data Analyst will report directly to the WKPTT Lead Economist and will work in close collaboration with other members of the WKPTT team and the broader Prosperity Vice Presidency.
