The Opportunity
Montera is seeking a Senior Construction Manager to be the primary on-site construction project management lead on our GW+ hyperscale data center campus development located in the Houston, Texas metro..
The role Senior Construction Manager serves as the Monteria primary representative at the project site, responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day construction activities, ensuring compliance with contract documents, and protecting the owner’s interests in schedule “Schedule First focus”, cost, quality, and safety. This role provides continuous field oversight, proactive issue resolution, and clear communication between the owner, contractor, design team, and other key project stakeholders i.e. Development, Program Controls, Procurement, Commissioning/QAQC, and Operations teams.
This role requires a strong management of field construction operations, contractor and vendor management, quality oversight and commissioning readiness, and schedule critical path focus and execution. The ideal candidate combines deep construction experience with schedule first leadership expertise and understands how to drive positive project outcomes with schedule at the forefront of everything the collective project team does.
What You'll Do
Construction Management & Project Delivery
· Lead day-to-day construction execution across assigned projects on each hyperscale campus..
· Serve as Montera's primary field representative and owner advocate throughout the entire construction project lifecycle.
· Drive and monitor contractor performance against safety, schedule, quality, budget, and contractual commitments.
· Partner with general contractors, EPC firms, trade partners, OEM vendors, and other key project stakeholders to proactively identify and promptly mitigate project challenges.
· Lead construction planning efforts to ensure efficient sequencing, logistics coordination, and workface readiness.
· Drive accountability for milestone achievement and project delivery objectives.
· Support constructability reviews and provide input during design development and preconstruction phases.
· Ensure construction activities align with project execution plans, turnover strategies, and commissioning requirements.
· Lead regular field walks and site inspections to verify progress, identify risks, and support issue resolution.
· Facilitate contractor coordination meetings, progress reviews, and milestone planning sessions.
· Review contractor staffing plans, productivity, logistics strategies, and resource allocation.
· Support project teams in resolving field conflicts, design coordination issues, procurement constraints, and execution risks.
· Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contract requirements, project objectives, and Montera standards.
· Provide leadership during critical project milestones, commissioning activities, turnover events, and customer readiness reviews.
Schedule Management & Planning
· Partner with program controls (scheduling team) to development and maintenance of integrated project schedules.
· Review contractor schedules, look-ahead plans, recovery plans, and milestone forecasts.
· Monitor schedule performance and identify risks that may impact project delivery.
· Partner with contractors and project teams to develop mitigation and recovery strategies.
· Perform critical path reviews and support schedule forecasting activities.
· Ensure schedule updates accurately reflect field progress and project realities.
· Communicate schedule status, risks, and recovery actions to project leadership and stakeholders.
· Participate in pull planning, milestone planning, and interactive planning sessions.
Safety & Quality Leadership
· In close partnership with the EH&S team, champion Montera's commitment to safety and ensure contractor compliance with all site safety requirements.
· Promote a culture of incident prevention, accountability, and continuous improvement.
· Support safety audits, site inspections, and corrective action programs.
· Monitor installation quality and ensure adherence to project specifications and standards.
· Partner with QA/QC teams to identify deficiencies, reduce rework, and support successful turnover.
· Ensure punch-list management and project closeout activities are completed efficiently and effectively.
Commercial and Risk Management
· Partner closely with program controls (commercial management team) to develop and manage the project budget from preconstruction through closeout, keeping scope, allowances, and contingency clearly identified with actuals tracked against the baseline budget.
· Manage the change process end to end, validating scope, pricing, and schedule impact on every PCO and change order.
· Review and validate contractor and vendor pay applications against earned progress and the schedule of values.
· Maintain rolling cost forecasts and estimate at completion, flagging exposures early.
· Own the project risk register, logging cost and schedule risks and driving mitigation to closure.
· Lead budget closeout, reconciling final costs and capturing benchmarks and lessons learned.
Commissioning & Turnover
· Partner with commissioning team to support turnover planning and startup readiness.
· Coordinate construction completion activities to align with commissioning schedules.
· Support phased turnover strategies and operational readiness planning.
· Track turnover milestones and ensure contractor deliverables are completed on schedule.
· Assist in resolving commissioning-related construction issues and support project closeout.
Stakeholder Management & Reporting
· Build strong relationships with contractors, vendors, consultants, utility providers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
· Participate in owner, contractor, and executive leadership meetings.
· Provide regular updates on project status, schedule performance, risks, and mitigation plans.
· Support budget forecasting, change management reviews, and project reporting activities.
· Communicate project challenges proactively and develop solutions that support successful delivery.
What You Bring
· Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience.
· 10+ years of experience managing and delivering large-scale construction projects.
· Prior hyperscale data center experience is strongly preferred .
· Experience leading mission-critical, hyperscale data center, industrial, semiconductor, energy (O&G), infrastructure, or other technically complex construction projects.
· Experience serving as an Owner's Representative, Construction Manager, General Contractor/EPC project manager, or similar technical construction related leadership role.
· Strong management of construction sequencing, contractor management, field execution, commissioning, and turnover planning.
· Experience managing internal project teams and contractor performance and driving accountability across multiple stakeholders.
· Thorough understanding of electrical, mechanical, civil, structural, and commissioning activities associated with mission-critical facilities.
· Working knowledge of Primavera P6, CPM scheduling methodologies, and construction planning principles.
· Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and commissioning documentation.
· Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
· Proven ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
· OSHA 10 certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
· Experience supporting fast-track construction, phased turnover, and commissioning-driven delivery is strongly preferred.

At Montera, we believe great work starts with investing in great people. That is why we offer a competitive and thoughtful total compensation package designed to recognize the value each team member brings.
Our compensation ranges are informed by market data and aligned to job level and role. When making hiring and compensation decisions, we consider a variety of factors, including skills, experience, education, training, competencies, and overall business needs.
The reasonable compensation range for this role is $180,000 – $240,000.
