Job description

Waracle are looking for a Mid-level Java Developer for an exciting new role joining our world-class digital technology consultancy and home to a diverse, smart, curious and ambitious community of specialists in technology-driven transformation.

We work with ambitious clients to help them solve their biggest business and customer challenges. We help our clients to innovate and create intelligent digital products and services. We thrive on complex challenges and deliver business-critical IT transformation projects, moving seamlessly from strategy, design and delivery to operations.

As a Mid-level Java Developer, you will operate independently building impactful backend features from well-defined requirements. We know that great technology is built by supported, collaborative teams. If you enjoy working closely with others, sharing knowledge, and building modular, secure systems while ensuring your work aligns with sprint goals, you will find a highly rewarding and nurturing home here.

This is a Hybrid role working from our Sofia office 2 days a week

Reporting to the Lead Developer, you will collaborate with your team to impact our projects across several key areas:

Feature & Architectural Development: Build backend features and end-to-end subsystems independently (APIs, data persistence, and background services) while applying clean coding standards and design patterns to ensure code is modular and scalable.

Cloud & DevOps Operations: Utilize cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for secure storage, authentication, and deployment, following agreed engineering practices like version control, Git workflows, and CI/CD automation.

Quality & Security: Act as a proactive problem solver by debugging issues across backend and cloud services. Participate in thoughtful peer reviews and apply defensive measures for robust application security.

Inclusive Communication: Provide concise status updates in stand-ups, raise blockers promptly with clear explanations, and translate technical trade-offs into clear, collaborative language for stakeholders.

Collaboration & Continuous Growth: Support the onboarding of new team members, manage your own tasks with supportive oversight, and contribute to internal improvements by volunteering in Community of Practice (CoP) ceremonies and retrospectives.
