Imprint
Director, Risk Strategy & Execution
Job description
WHO WE ARE
Imprint helps the world's best brands grow the lifetime value of their customers. We started with co-branded credit cards and rebuilt them to be smarter, more rewarding, and brand-first. We partner with companies like Crate & Barrel, Rakuten, Booking.com http://Booking.com, H-E-B, Fetch, and Shell to launch modern credit programs that deepen loyalty, unlock savings, and drive growth. But the card is just the beginning. We combine advanced payments infrastructure, intelligent underwriting, and deep customer data to create delightful and personalized experiences for members as well as efficient and profitable relationships for our brand partners. Our robust technology and world-class operations allow us and our brand partners to offer powerful financial products without becoming a bank.
In the U.S., co-branded cards alone account for over $300 billion in annual spend, and most still run on decades-old legacy bank systems. Imprint is the modern alternative: flexible, embeddable, and built for how people actually pay today. Backed by Kleiner Perkins, Thrive Capital, Ribbit, and Khosla Ventures, we're building a world-class team to redefine how people pay and how brands grow. If you want to move fast, solve hard problems, and own real outcomes, we want to meet you.
About the Role
Imprint is looking for a strategic leader to help define the future of our Risk organization.
As Director, Risk Strategy & Execution, you will partner closely with the Chief Risk Officer to shape the long-term strategy, operating model, and execution of one of the company's most critical functions. This is a highly visible leadership role that sits at the intersection of business strategy, risk management, product, and technology.
The Risk organization spans Fraud, Credit, Collections, and Operational Risk across a rapidly growing portfolio of co-branded credit card programs. As Imprint continues to scale, we're looking for a leader who can connect strategy with execution—bringing clarity to complex problems, aligning stakeholders around shared priorities, and ensuring the organization is focused on the initiatives that drive the greatest impact.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving ambiguous problems, influencing without direct authority, and partnering with senior leaders to build high-performing organizations. You'll serve as a strategic advisor to the Chief Risk Officer while helping the broader Risk organization operate with greater alignment, focus, and impact.
What You'll Accomplish in Your First 90 Days
- Build trusted relationships across Risk, Product, Engineering, Legal, Finance, and other key partner teams, becoming a strategic thought partner to the Chief Risk Officer and Risk leadership.
- Develop a deep understanding of Imprint's Risk organization, including team structure, strategic priorities, performance metrics, and cross-functional dependencies.
- Establish a scalable planning and operating cadence that improves alignment across the organization, including quarterly planning, roadmap reviews, business reviews, and executive updates.
- Define a clear 12–24 month strategic vision for the Risk organization, identifying the highest-impact opportunities and the critical problems to solve before prescribing solutions.
- Partner closely with Product and Engineering to strengthen prioritization, roadmap development, and execution across cross-functional initiatives.
- Improve how the Risk organization communicates its priorities, progress, and business impact across the company.
What You'll Do
- Partner directly with the Chief Risk Officer to define organizational strategy, long-term priorities, and execution plans across the Risk organization.
- Help shape the future of Imprint's Risk organization by identifying opportunities to improve organizational effectiveness, strategic focus, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Lead strategic initiatives that span Fraud, Credit, Collections, Operational Risk, Product, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Capital Markets, and Operations.
- Translate complex analytical and technical work into clear business strategies, executive communications, and actionable roadmaps.
- Partner with Product and Engineering leaders to ensure risk initiatives are prioritized, well-defined, and effectively executed.
- Develop frameworks that help leadership evaluate tradeoffs between customer experience, portfolio performance, operational complexity, and business growth.
- Prepare executive presentations, board materials, strategic planning documents, and business reviews that clearly communicate the Risk organization's priorities and impact.
- Identify organizational bottlenecks, execution risks, and process gaps, driving improvements that enable the team to scale effectively.
- Establish planning processes, governance, and operating mechanisms that improve transparency, accountability, and decision-making across the organization.
- Serve as a connector across the business, ensuring Risk is a proactive, collaborative partner to teams across Imprint.
What We're Looking For
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in strategy, business operations, risk strategy, consulting, product strategy, program management, or a related leadership role within FinTech, financial services, or another high-growth technology company.
- Experience partnering directly with senior executives to define strategy, drive organizational planning, and lead complex cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong understanding of financial services risk, including experience working with Fraud, Credit, Collections, Payments, Lending, or Operational Risk organizations.
- Exceptional strategic thinking and structured problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and develop frameworks from first principles.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence executive stakeholders and translate complex topics into compelling narratives.
- Demonstrated ability to build alignment across technical and business teams without direct authority.
- Strong judgment and a track record of balancing customer experience, risk management, and commercial objectives when evaluating strategic decisions.
- Comfortable working with data to inform decisions, including familiarity with analytical tools, SQL, or AI-assisted workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in consumer lending, credit cards, payments, or another regulated financial services environment.
- Experience leading strategic planning or organizational transformation initiatives within a rapidly growing company.
- Familiarity with fraud prevention, underwriting, collections, portfolio management, or payments infrastructure.
- Experience preparing executive and board-level communications.
- MBA or equivalent experience in strategy consulting, business operations, or corporate strategy.
