Country Lead - Libya Operations
Job description
The Country Lead – Libya Operations is Alberta's senior representative in Libya, responsible for the delivery, coordination and growth of the Company's fire, safety and security operations in-country.
This is a hands-on leadership role that combines technical expertise, operational oversight, client relationship management and business development. The successful candidate will lead from the front, actively participating in project delivery while overseeing a small local team and subcontractor network.
Based in Tripoli , Libya, the role is supported by an experienced Malta-based management team that provides commercial, administrative and operational support. The successful candidate will be comfortable working autonomously in an international environment while helping to strengthen and grow Alberta's presence in the Libyan market.
Main responsibilities
Technical & Operational Delivery
- Lead and actively participate in the installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of fire suppression, fire detection, electrical safety and ELV security systems, including CCTV, access control and intrusion detection systems.
- Conduct site surveys and assessments to determine equipment, material and resource requirements.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Ensure systems are installed, tested and operating in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Provide practical technical support across multiple disciplines as required.
Site, Resource & Project Coordination
- Plan and coordinate personnel, subcontractors, equipment and materials across active projects.
- Oversee day-to-day site operations to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and on schedule.
- Monitor project progress and identify resource requirements in advance.
- Prioritise tasks and manage project timelines to meet client expectations and business objectives.
Team Leadership
- Act as the technical and operational lead for the local team and subcontractors.
- Provide guidance, mentoring and technical support to team members.
- Support the development of skills and capabilities within the team.
- Promote a collaborative and professional working environment.
Client Relationships & Business Development
- Serve as the primary local point of contact for clients in Libya.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through high standards of service delivery.
- Represent Alberta professionally at meetings, networking events and industry engagements.
- Identify new business opportunities and support efforts to expand operations within the local market.
- Provide commercial and market insights to the management team.
Quality, Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all activities comply with relevant regulations, industry standards and Company procedures.
- Maintain accurate project records, service reports and technical documentation.
- Identify and mitigate operational and site-related risks.
- Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements.
Administration & Local Liaison
- Coordinate with the Malta office on operational, procurement and reporting matters.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and relevant authorities as required.
- Uphold Alberta's professional standards through quality workmanship, reliability and professionalism.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Solid technical background in fire, safety and/or security systems.
- Several years of relevant experience in a senior technical, supervisory or leadership position.
- Experience in mechanical firefighting systems, fire detection systems, electrical systems and/or ELV security systems.
- Engineering degree considered an asset.
- Equivalent technical qualifications with substantial hands-on experience will also be considered.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
- Arabic language skills are considered an asset.
- Willingness to relocate to and be based in Tripoli, Libya.
- Previous experience within the MENA region is advantageous.
- Valid driving licence preferred.
