locus
SVP, Engineering
Job description
Job Title: SVP, Engineering
Location: Bangalore (On-site; full-time)
About Locus
Battle-tested in 350+ deployments across 30+ countries, Locus is an agentic Transportation Management System for all-mile, all-channel, trusted by enterprises like Unilever, Nestlé, and Siam Makro.
The platform unifies orders, capacity, and carrier networks into one living plan, aligning planning, execution, and settlement so promises become proof. AI co-pilots with guardrails surface risk early and recommend the next best move to protect SLAs and reduce empty miles.
In 2025, Locus joined the Ingka Group (IKEA Retail) family, marking a major milestone in our journey. Backed by the scale and strength of IKEA, we continue to operate independently while accelerating our mission to make global supply chains faster, smarter, and more sustainable.
Our Journey and Impact
Since 2015, Locus has been on a mission to make logistics decision-making intelligent, sustainable, and real-world ready. Our platform has powered billions of deliveries across 30+ countries for global enterprises, driving measurable impact in cost savings, carbon reduction, and SLA performance. With the strength of the IKEA ecosystem behind us, we’re scaling that impact even further.
Our Global Footprint
Headquartered in Bangalore, with teams across the U.S., U.K., UAE, and Southeast Asia, Locus brings together 170 + engineers, designers, and problem-solvers united by a single goal: to reinvent how the world moves goods.
Traits We Value We look for people who are
● Global in mindset: curious about diverse markets and ideas.
● Unrelenting in drive: energized by complex challenges.
● Intelligent in approach: analytical, creative, and thoughtful.
● Dynamic in execution: adaptive and decisive in fast-moving contexts.
● Exact in craft: detail-oriented and committed to excellence.
The seat (About the Role)
We are hiring an SVP, Engineering. This is a co-founder-adjacent role, equal partner with our Product co-founder. You will own architecture and engineering across the company, scale the platform through the next 24 months, and shape what kind of engineering organisation Locus becomes on the other side of our agentic transition.
What we are building
Two parallel programmes, both in flight today
Agentic TMS. A runtime where AI agents make decisions and orchestrate operations under policy. Specialised agents reason across hundreds of variables, orchestrate decisions in real time, and learn from every shipment. Humans set policy and handle exceptions. Agents do the work.
Software Factory. Our internal engineering platform where AI agents work alongside engineers to design, build, test, and ship. The Agentic TMS is the product. The Software Factory is the build engine. The gap between us and the rest of the category lives in that pairing.
Underneath sits a five-layer architecture (Ontology, Decision Engine, Agent Layer, Orchestration, Human Interface) that we are calling the Decision OS
What you will own
•
Architecture. End-to-end across the Decision OS, the Agentic TMS surface, and the Software Factory. The architecture call for the next two years sits with you.
•
Engineering organisation. Today and the build for tomorrow. Squad structure, hiring bar, technical leadership, performance management, AI-native engineering rituals.
•
Platform scale. The IKEA / Ingka multi-year delivery commitment plus the broader customer platform. Reliability, performance, cost, security as continuous concerns.
•
Product partnership. Equal partner with our Product co-founder. The architecture-meets-product loop is yours to make tight.
•
Agentic transition. Personally lead the rebuild of meaningful product surfaces around agents that take action under policy, not chatbots that augment humans.
•
Tech leadership in the room.
Who we are looking for
The bar is set high because this is a co-founder-adjacent seat. You will fit if:
•
You have shipped at scale. Operated platforms with multiple customers above $1M ACV, or platforms processing hundreds of millions of transactions per day, or both.
•
You have global shipping experience. NA + EU + APAC customers in your career, distributed engineering teams across at least two continents, comfort with non-US regulatory and operating texture.
•
You have AI-native conviction. Personally led the agentic or LLM-native rebuild of a meaningful product surface.
•
You partner. You can hold an equal-partner posture with co-founders without needing the org chart to draw the line.
•
You are senior enough to walk in and not be intimidated by the founder set, the CTO, the CRO.
•
You have built or run engineering through a transition, Scale step-change, technology rewrite, or category pivot. Survived one and shipped through it.
Compensation
•
Base + bonus targeting top decile of engineering-leadership compensation at our revenue scale
•
Long-term incentive plan with multi-year vesting
•
Relocation supported
We will be specific on numbers once the conversation moves past first-fit.
What attracts the right person
Built into the seat
•
The category claim is real. Decision OS for global operations, not just TMS. Board mandate, FDE function staffing in flight, customer-validated.
•
The customer base is enviable. Real ACV, real reference value, IKEA as the proof-of-concept reference.
•
The mandate is full. Architecture, platform, engineering org. Not a fragment.
•
The peer set is strong. You are partnering with co-founders, not reporting to a layer.
What we are honest about
•
The CETO seat has been bridged by the CEO for the last six months. You inherit signal and shadow from that arrangement.
•
The agentic transition is real but uneven across surfaces. Some are agent-native today. Others are still in design.
•
The first conversation is a thesis discussion. The formal process kicks in after that.
What We Offer
Join Locus and become part of a visionary team that is redefining logistics through innovation and smart distribution. We provide competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and a collaborative environment where your expertise will drive both your growth and that of the organization.
Locus is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace.
