Placement Officer - Pro Kids (Temporary Part-Time)
Job description
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Coordinator Support Services (PRO Kids) is responsible for assisting with the PRO Kids applicant screening process and matching economically disadvantaged children and youth with partner sport, recreation and cultural program providers.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participates in the placement of children and youth in community programs, including supporting increased application volume during peak intake periods, and completing applicant reference check screening to verify eligibility for program placement.
- Refers children to the activities offered by partner organizations.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with various social service agencies and community sport, recreation, and cultural organizations.
- Manages participant and donor databases, ensuring confidentiality.
- Assists with planning and delivery of fundraising activities, as well as partner and donor recognition events.
- Participates in outreach activities for program awareness and engagement.
- Creates newsletter content and presentations to outside agencies and groups.
- Works cooperatively with staff, community partners, and volunteers.
- Attends and participates in training session and designated staff meetings related to the PRO Kids service.
- Abides by and enforces all PRO Kids rules and regulations with respect to staff and participants.
- Collects and records information for statistical purposes, as required.
- Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience
- Diploma (or currently enrolled) in recreation, social work, business, human services, or a related field; and
- Demonstrated one-year experience in community recreation, sport, arts and/or children’s programs and/or related volunteer experience.
- Demonstrated involvement in coaching, teaching and working with children in a recreation/sport setting.
Skills/Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Must be comfortable communicating with families, partners, and sponsor organizations
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships
- Must be at basic skill level in word processing and spreadsheet software
- Self-starter with strong organizational, time management, skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to exercise independent judgement when dealing with confidential or sensitive issues
- Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- May be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportation
- Must be willing to work irregular hours including evenings and weekends
- Must sign and abide by Employee Confidentiality Statement
- Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
