Under the supervision of the Facilities Supervisor, the Elevator Technician Helper assists licensed elevator technicians with the installation, repair, modernization, and maintenance of elevators, escalators, lifts, and related equipment. This role supports hands‑on technical work, ensures safe work practices, and contributes to efficient completion of service tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Assist elevator technicians with installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of elevators, escalators, and lift systems.
  • Transport tools, materials, and equipment to job sites and help prepare the work area.
  • Perform basic mechanical tasks such as fastening, assembling, and removing components under supervision.
  • Help inspect and test mechanical and electrical systems, documenting results as directed.
  • Support preventive maintenance activities including lubrication, cleaning, and adjustments to components.
  • Follow safety procedures, lockout/tagout protocols, and industry standards at all times.
  • Assist with diagnosing malfunctions and identifying worn or damaged parts.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and inventory in good working condition.
  • Keep accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent using CMMS Maximo
  • Communicate clearly with technicians, supervisors, and building personnel during service activities
  • Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs
  • Safely operate tools and equipment and maintain a clean, organized work environment
  • May be required to work weekends, holidays, early and late shifts N/A
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education / Certifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have a driver’s country of origin license.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License

Experience

  • At minimum Four (4) years’ experience

Skills & Technology Used

  • English proficiency Reading & Speaking Level 2, Writing Level 1.
  • Prior experience in facilities, mechanical trades, or construction support a plus
  • Basic understanding of mechanical or electrical systems
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely
  • Good physical condition with the ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined areas
  • Strong attention to detail, willingness to learn, and ability to follow instructions
  • Commitment to strict safety standards and procedures

Material & Equipment Directly Used

  • Hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, hammers, and socket sets
  • Power tools including drills, impact drivers, grinders, and saws
  • Hoisting and rigging equipment
  • Electrical testing devices such as multimeters and continuity testers
  • Lubricants, cleaning agents, and maintenance supplies
  • Safety equipment (PPE) including gloves, safety glasses, hard hat, harnesses, and fall protection
  • Ladders, lifts, work platforms, and service carts
  • Mobile device or tablet for work orders and documentation

Working Environment

  • Must be capable of working in an extreme weather condition with temperatures exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, wet, tropical environment with average temperatures of 130 degrees in the summer months).
  • Includes some industrial production conditions as well.
  • The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions. No effective protection from the weather.
  • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
  • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard about the ambient noise level.

Physical Activities

  • Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
  • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
