Expressions of Interest for Project Officer, Enforceable Undertakings, SafeWork NSW

  • Clerk Grade 7/8, starting salary $116,981 plus super
  • Temporary up to 12 months
  • Based in Gosford or Parramatta

We are seeking expressions of interest for the Project Officer role. This EOI is open to all temporary and ongoing employees currently employed with NSW Government.

About us

When a business or individual is alleged to have committed an offence under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 , they may be eligible to submit an enforceable undertaking (EU) as an alternative to prosecution. If accepted, an EU requires the person or business to invest time, money and resources to implement significant workplace, industry and community WHS improvements.

The EU team supports individuals and businesses throughout this process from initial contact with SafeWork NSW, through to the EU being accepted or rejected, and then ultimately verified to ensure completion of the EU.

About the role

Your responsibilities will include but not limited to;

  • Managing a caseload of enforceable undertakings
  • Preparation of high-level written correspondence including briefing notes for the EU Panel, Director and Executive Director, request for advice to internal subject matter experts and other supporting documentation
  • A willingness to present relevant EU mattersto the EU Panel
  • Provision of secretariat support for the EU Panel and the ability to prepare detailed and factual minutes
  • Extensive stakeholder engagement, including liaison and negotiation with businesses, external legal representatives, internal subject matter experts and all levels of internal and external management
  • Presenting to businesses and external legal representatives at EU meetings
  • Prepare detailed external correspondence including letters and emails advising EU outcomes

About you

This opportunity would suit a self-motivated and committed person who has the ability to work in a high volume, fast paced regulatory environment. To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in stakeholder engagement at all levels, including sound negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated and highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced project management skills
  • Strong Microsoft office skills, including Power BI and Excel
  • Be able to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Resilience – you are exposed to sensitive information about work health and safety incidents.
  • Collaborative and team focused attitude
  • The ability to effectively manage competing demands to ensure timeliness of responses and ensuring objectives, reporting requirements and KPIs are met
  • Experience in writing briefing notes for Directors and Executive Directors
