Customs Specialist (HQ)
Job description
Job Objective
- Optimize Customs & shipping operations by efficiently managing the customs clearance, storage, and
- transportation of goods to ensure timely delivery while minimizing costs ensuring adherence to safety
- regulations and company policies while maintaining high service levels.
Environment
Internal: Company departments and Stakeholders.
External
- foreign Suppliers,Customs Clearance Agents, Shipping Lines, Freight Forwarders, Customs
- Authority, General Authority for Investment, and General Organization for Export & Import Control,
- Egyptian Drug Authority, Armament Authority, seaports Authority.
Key Responsibility
- Ensure adherence to customs laws, regulations, and all import/export restrictions.
- Coordinate ACID applications on the Nafiza system along with Cargo-X registration processes.
- Liaise with customs offices in (airport/seaport), freight forwarders and other relevant
stakeholders to facilitate clearance procedures.
- Coordinate the customs clearance process for both imports and exports.
- Prepare customs documentation to ensure compliance with all domestic and international import
and export regulations.
- Prepare MOH approvals documentation to EDA to obtain importation approvals for Medical
Equipment.
- Complete all required customs documents, including invoices, packing lists, certificates of
origin, and shipping declarations.
- Accurately classify goods using applicable customs tariff codes and ensure correct declarations.
- Resolve customs-related issues or disputes that may arise during the clearance process.
10.Remain informed of changes in customs regulations and proactively communicate updates to all
relevant parties.
11.Collaborate with internal departments such as procurement, planning, and finance, as well as
external agencies and specialists,to optimize customs clearance operations
12.Oversee tracking of goods throughout all stages of the freight process, ensuring end-to-end visibility.
- Inform the internal stakeholders such as planning and warehouse about the exact date of
consignment's discharge and share copies of the shipping documents with them.
- follow up settlements and payments with customs clearance agencies.
15.Review, confirm, and approve the customs documents and release them to Finance department
for bank settlement.
16.Maintain comprehensive records and documentation, ensuring both data accuracy and
confidentiality.
17.Adhere to reporting protocols for performance metrics, fees, and other reports required by
management.
Academic Experience Required
Bachelor's Degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
Professional Experience Required
- Minimum 2-4 years of related experience in logistics or related field.
- Experience in Pharmaceutical sector is a plus.
Computing Skills
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- SAP knowledge will be a plus.
