The Challenge
More than 75% of Talk360's users are on Android. Every release you ship reaches hundreds of thousands of people across more than 190 countries - migrants calling home, travellers managing emergencies, families staying connected across borders. For these users, a dropped call or a crash isn't a UX inconvenience. It's a broken connection to someone who matters.
The craft challenge here is real. Our users are often on older devices, limited data plans, and unreliable networks. Building an app that performs beautifully under those conditions requires engineering excellence, not shortcuts.
We're entering a new phase of growth. Talk360 is profitable, our B2B2C platform is expanding, and mobile remains one of the most important products in the company.
We're looking for a Staff Android Engineer to own our Android platform. Someone who is still deeply hands-on but naturally steps beyond writing code. Someone who enjoys making architectural decisions, raising engineering standards, partnering with Product, Operations to better understand the customer, and helping shape how millions of people experience Talk360. As the only fully dedicated Android Engineer in the company, we need someone who loves ownership and our challenge.
What You'll Do
Own the Android platform
Own the long-term technical direction of the Android application
Drive architectural decisions that enable the product to scale over the coming years
Continuously improve code quality, maintainability and developer experience
Own the Android release process, technical health and platform reliability
Ensure the app performs reliably on low-end devices and under poor network conditions
Build
Design and build high-impact features including embedded calling, payments, authentication, Auto Top-Up and future platform capabilities
Stay hands-on by contributing production code every sprint
Solve complex technical problems across performance, networking, scalability and reliability
Experiment with AI tooling to improve engineering quality and productivity—we're actively building an AI-first engineering culture
Partner across the business
Work closely with Product to shape technical solutions before implementation
Collaborate across business to understand customer pain points and translate them into engineering improvements
Use customer feedback, analytics, crash reports and Play Store reviews to prioritise improvements
Help engineering make better product decisions, not just better technical ones
The Team
You’ll be working alongside Igor (iOS Mobile Lead) and Tom (Tech Lead). The wider tech team you’ll collaborate with includes Michal & Feyi (QA), Alex (Backend), Isah (Frontend), Oleg (Full Stack), and Yahaya (VoIP). On the product side, you’ll work closely with Quintin and Kseniia.
Talk360 is a lean company, around 30 people globally, which means you’ll interact regularly across functions: ops, support, data, and marketing. That cross-functional visibility is one of the things that makes the work here interesting and your impact visible.
